One thing the DomeKano manga has over the anime is that it plays up how much of a lovable dork Hina is. Anime Hina comes off to me as somebody you’d want to stay away from on the grounds of emotional instability, & is only shallowly charming.

There are four romance-comedy anime endgames: Nozaki-kun (emphasize obliviousness), Negima (expand number of girls), Gamers (emphasize complexity of misunderstandings), & now Kaguya-san (emphasize the role of pride). I approve of all of them.

SisterWriter is so weirdly lazy at times. Like, just rotating a cut 90 degrees and doing a static panning shot… Though, the characters are constantly off model and rarely animated or properly posed, so that might be for the best…

So, the Pseudomonarchia is like A Thing in anime, isn’t it… Using goetic demons as comic relief characters is something I see occasionally but it wasn’t until You’re Being Summoned, Azazel! that I realized that it wasn’t just like 3 guys doing it.

Hot take: really strongly associating anime with japanese-ness is weird in the same way as immediately associating westerns with italian-ness, & marks casuals/outsiders to fandom. It’s a syncretic medium with a hotbed in japan.
