As it seems to be not well known I advertise it again: Please join the (inofficial) #twtxt #XMPP room at xmpp:twtxt@chat.mdosch.de?join
https://t2bot.io/docs/2020-matrix-org-lag/ Some confirmation why I prefer the good ‘ol (actually it’s improving to current demands all the time) #XMPP and don’t switch to the fancy new kids in town like, currently, #MATRIX.
#Conversations with #VoIP is released. 🎉 https://nitter.net/iNPUTmice/status/1254662039592742913 #XMPP
There is now a nice monitoring service for #XMPP service operators: https://observe.jabber.network/ (Thanks jonas´)
First release candidate of android #XMPP client #Conversations is available and working smooth with my server. Hope it will be released soon. 😃
#Conversations beta with #VoIP is working already for me. Not yet perfect but for beta stage already pretty good. #XMPP

@von@tilde.town What is session? For chatting I use #XMPP since ~2003 😃
The TUI #XMPP client #Profanity released 0.8.0 https://profanity-im.github.io/blog/post/release-080/
#Snikket - a new kid in #XMPP town. https://snikket.org/
Since beginning of this month the #XMPP TUI client #profanity started a blog: https://profanity-im.github.io/blog/index.html
@sarmonsiill@twtxt.ti-l.de I have an xmpp bot running on my vps and the bot updates my twtxt.txt using txtnish. So I use twtxt via xmpp.
If you can read this my twtxt (including my twtxt #xmpp bot) is up and running again. 😀
If someone is using this niche microblog thing twitter: #profanity has a poll what terminal #xmpp client you are using: https://twitter.com/ProfanityIM/status/1207317970667606022
@lucidiot@tilde.town I think I’ve heard it’s using #XMPP but I don’t find a source right now.
The new #xmpp newsletter is available: https://xmpp.org/2019/11/newsletter-08-november/
@mdosch@mdosch.de Yeah, I might try that, but for the moment I just made my gf use Signal, small step. Thanks for the link :)
@von@tilde.town I moved my family to xmpp. For friends you might consider quicksy that works like WhatsApp but you can reach them via normal xmpp. Maybe you will also find some interesting groupchats there: https://search.jabber.network/rooms/1
The #xmpp newsletter 10/2019 is the first one which got translated to German: https://www.jabber.de/xmpp-newsletter-01-oktober-2019-fosdem-2020-modernisierung-von-xmpp-peer-networks/
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net : [XMPP] I have an account for a long time, but only talk with one person, not that often :/ I’m sad not a lot uses it

@kas@enotty.dk Your link made it into the libraries test. 😂 https://github.com/FluuxIO/go-xmpp/commit/005c8823d9a3d57c133737f1f889658c3ddb869b
@kas@enotty.dk Oh, it’s so bad? I created an issue. So you might comment there if you have knowledge of possible vulnerabilities. https://github.com/FluuxIO/XMPP/issues/6
@kas@enotty.dk yes, gosrc.io/xmpp is using a lot of fprintf and seems to not do escaping for % 😒
@kas@enotty.dk It looks like the message is f***ed up by the #xmpp library I am using and not by my code. :-/
Regarding my problem with some chars from @kas@enotty.dkdk: The txtnish output looks fine. As I don’t see anything in my program that could cause this I asked in the #golang #xmpp room. Let’s see if someone has a good idea.
@kas@enotty.dk I don’t know. I will check what txtnish output in the terminal looks like. Right now I only access #twtxt via my #xmpp bot.
@adiabetic@www.frogorbits.com I think my pulse would be high a lot of times if using iOS. I hear of so many problems from #xmpp devs fighting iOS and push. Not having a reliable chat app due to apples design constraints would really piss me off.
@adiabetic@www.frogorbits.com Looks nice. But it supports strange things like telegram, hipchat and so on but not the standard #xmpp 😡
@leo@www.gkbrk.com maybe my #xmpp bot is doing something wrong, but everything else works.
I totally prefer #XMPP over #IRC. I like it being federated and with #Conversations you have a good mobile client, also you don’t need to setup a bouncer.
@nonlinear@nonlinear.radiofreqs.space there is an #xmpp muc: xmpp:twtxt@chat.mdosch.de?join but unfortunately not much used.
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net @von@tilde.town This is also my only tweeting thing. 😃 I am active in some boards and #xmpp mucs though.
If this is due to the xmpp wttr.in bot I shared here you should fix your certs.
Today I got a lot of s2s errors on my #xmpp server because of servers with invalid certs are trying to connect.
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net You can also send your location to xmpp:wttr@mdosch.de using #xmpp
“A pathway to a well regulated instant messaging market”: https://gultsch.de/regulations.html #xmpp
If you can read this my twtxt-over-xmpp bot is also up and running. :D
2019: The year I stopped caring about XMPP.
@kas@enotty.dk to (1) he explained that phone numbers are too predictable to have any advantage by hashing and I don’t understand (2) as this might be a step to increase the xmpp user base.
Easy XMPP with WhatsApp like contact discovery via phone number: https://quicksy.im/ #xmpp #quicksy #conversations
Anyone using sendxmpp wants to try go-sendxmpp. It should already cover the most important use cases and I would be interested if it was compatible in your use case. https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch-guest/go-sendxmpp #xmpp #golang
My feed-to-muc #XMPP bot now filters some tracking from URLs: https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch-guest/feed-to-muc/commit/4577ec34c103b0a7c40b0606602aa2f7918a403d
It is probably an evil hack, but it is working: I created a #XMPP bot which monitors news feeds for updates and posts them to a MUC. https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch-guest/feed-to-muc
Oh, https://wttr.in has run out of weather queries. I hope that’s not caused by xmpp:wttr@mdosch.de 🙄
Built a little #xmpp bot that queries wttr.in: https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch-guest/gowttr Just try: xmpp:wttr@mdosch.de
I changed the code of #goxtxt (my #twtxt #xmpp bot) a little bit. If all went good there should be no change in functionality but it is no more depending on #head and #grep.
My #xmpp #twtxt bot moved to a new repository: https://salsa.debian.org/mdosch-guest/goxtxt
#xmpp muc search engine: https://muclumbus.jabbercat.org
#Conversations #XMPP app today for free in play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.siacs.conversations&hl=en
Sorry, for being quite noisy now but it is really fun using #twtxt over #xmpp, am very proud it somehow works even when I’m no programmer.
@kas@enotty.dk @freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Me prefers #xmpp too. My tests with #matrix and #tox were all unsatisfying.
Seems my bot works more stablesince switching #xmpp lib from github.com/processone/gox/xmpp to more active fluux.io/xmpp
Pushed my #xmpp #twtxt bot written in #go to Github: https://github.com/mdosch/goxtxt
If you can read this I made my first twtxt post by sending a message to a xmpp bot. :)
@kas@enotty.dk joined the #twtxt #xmpp room and doubled the amount of users. :D xmpp:twtxt@chat.mdosch.de?join
Re #twtxt #xmpp muc: It seems there is a #matrix and an #irc room but no xmpp which I would prefer. sigh
Is there any #twtxt #xmpp muc? If not, I set up (an still empty) one at xmpp:twtxt@chat.mdosch.de?join
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net I’d really like to know how you managed to use twtxt via XMPP. 🙂
