The new #XMPP newsletter is out: https://xmpp.org/2020/10/newsletter-10-october/
@prologic@twtxt.net I don’t automate anything but I have sensors in every room to warn me if the humidity is too high and one in the fridge to warn if it’s too warm/cold via xmpp message. It’s working pretty well and was not expensive. I have fhem running on a raspberry pi which also serves other services.
@prologic@twtxt.net So far it doesn’t mean much but being a member is a precondition to participate in the work teams. I want to join the editor team https://xmpp.org/about/xsf/editor-team and maybe also the commteam https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/CommTeam
@prologic@twtxt.net Yeah, busy with work and life. 😂 Also I got voted into the #XSF so probably I’ll be more busy with #XMPP im the future. How are you doing?
#XMPP brews #coffee ☕, the #August newsletter: https://xmpp.org/2020/08/newsletter-08-august/
@lukem@twtxt.net Nice. As I don’t know how to create an android app I just wrote an xmpp bot for using twtxt. It’s probably very hacky as I am no programmer at all.
@hjertnes@hjertnes.social is there anything else than death metal? 🧐
@adiabetic@www.frogorbits.com I like #ZSH (I’m using it with the #grml config).
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Doing everything in the browser is indeed terrible. But I have to admit that e.g. jitsi-meet for a/v conferences is pretty neat. You just share the link and password and everybody can join without installing and configuring a new software.
@adiabatic 100°C is the boiling temperature of water and 0°C is the freezing temperature. It’s a linear scale so 90°C is already damn hot.
@adiabatic Do you use your iPad in a water cooker? 😲

On Wednesday 10.06.2020 the developer of the #XMPP client conversations will talk about implementing audio/video calls with XMPP during the Berlin XMPP meetup (held online with Jitsi-Meet): https://nl.movim.eu/?node/pubsub.movim.eu/berlin-xmpp-meetup/3e091c00-5e20-4727-a61d-c92a247b106e
As it seems to be not well known I advertise it again: Please join the (inofficial) #twtxt #XMPP room at xmpp:twtxt@chat.mdosch.de?join
https://t2bot.io/docs/2020-matrix-org-lag/ Some confirmation why I prefer the good ‘ol (actually it’s improving to current demands all the time) #XMPP and don’t switch to the fancy new kids in town like, currently, #MATRIX.
Great song, but my favourite album is ‘Arise’. 😃
@dgold@dgold.eu I’ve heard a lot of people successfully run Linux on Macbooks. Never tried it myself as they are too expensive for me.
@dgold@dgold.eu Why do you use mac of you don’t like it? 🤣
German article about the new #Conversations update: https://www.heise.de/forum/heise-online/News-Kommentare/Conversations-Open-Source-Messenger-mit-Audio-und-Videoanruf/
#Conversations with #VoIP is released. 🎉 https://nitter.net/iNPUTmice/status/1254662039592742913 #XMPP
There is now a nice monitoring service for #XMPP service operators: https://observe.jabber.network/ (Thanks jonas´)
@kas@enotty.dk That must be wrong for a long time then or was there a release recently?
#Conversations release candidate with #VoIP of course.
First release candidate of android #XMPP client #Conversations is available and working smooth with my server. Hope it will be released soon. 😃
#Conversations beta with #VoIP is working already for me. Not yet perfect but for beta stage already pretty good. #XMPP

Hello @ekkie@envs.net 🙂
@oevl@oevl.info I don’t live on the #CLI but I listed some CLI and #TUI tools I use regularly: https://blog.mdosch.de/2019/06/06/tui-programme/ (German)
@oevl@oevl.info Maybe you have luck and your twtxt.txt file is archived by archive.org
@jcolag@john.colagioia.net What is Entropy Arbitrage?
@oevl@oevl.info Ah, so it’s a launcher. Never heard about that. Thanks.
@oevl@oevl.info What are Albert/Alfred? Do you have butlers who tweet for you?
“Security scandal around WhatsApp shows the need for decentralised messengers and digital sovereignty” https://fsfe.org/news/2020/news-20200228-01.html
@mdom@domgoergen.com The last tweet regarding #txtnish should point at you not @kas@enotty.dk Sorry. 😔
@kas@enotty.dk does #txtnish support #gopher twtxt.txt addresses?
@kas@enotty.dk My twtxt bot can filter the timeline for hashtags so sometimes I look what others are writing about a certain topic but usually I only find my own tweets. 😁
@jcolag@john.colagioia.net He, it seems you and me are the only ones here using #hashtags 😁
Yesterday I visited the #munich #philharmony for the first time as the ‘Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg’ and the ‘Neuer Kammerchor Berlin’ were playing ‘The Sound Of Quentin #Tarantino’ – awesome!
@hex22@t.seed.hex22.org @oevl@oevl.info Welcome to #twtxt 😀
@von@tilde.town What is session? For chatting I use #XMPP since ~2003 😃
I could do, but I don’t like email signatures on my private emails.
@kas@enotty.dk Nice! Maybe I could add a sieve filter which replies with a link to this site when receiving HTML emails. 🤔
@kas@enotty.dk Hmm, I don’t really like that they also recommend Threema for messaging as this is also a closed source silo. 🤔
Am on the way to a Munich white sausage breakfast before we go to the stadium for an icehockey match. Great Sunday!
@kas@enotty.dk I managed it. I had to temporarily set my pgp_home to the autocrypt folder before importing the key.
Anyone succeeded to get an autocrypt key from openkeychain into neomutt?
The TUI #XMPP client #Profanity released 0.8.0 https://profanity-im.github.io/blog/post/release-080/
#Snikket - a new kid in #XMPP town. https://snikket.org/
@jcolag@john.colagioia.net Welcome to twtxt!
Since beginning of this month the #XMPP TUI client #profanity started a blog: https://profanity-im.github.io/blog/index.html
@sarmonsiill@twtxt.ti-l.de I have an xmpp bot running on my vps and the bot updates my twtxt.txt using txtnish. So I use twtxt via xmpp.
One week after I set up my first mail server I’m done with the polishing and it looks like it’s pretty state-of-the-art: https://mecsa.jrc.ec.europa.eu/en/finderRequest/0ff350307d4c4170d17be9118ad7c2e8 😃
If you can read this my twtxt (including my twtxt #xmpp bot) is up and running again. 😀
If someone is using this niche microblog thing twitter: #profanity has a poll what terminal #xmpp client you are using: https://twitter.com/ProfanityIM/status/1207317970667606022
@lucidiot@tilde.town Hmm, maybe I mixed up things. I also couldn’t find any source. 😔
@lucidiot@tilde.town I think I’ve heard it’s using #XMPP but I don’t find a source right now.
Heading to the #DEL top match Munich vs. Mannheim. Hope our team has a chance with 12 players missing (including the two main goalies).
/me makes a note to check out exa after his business trip.
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net They’ll just buy a new TV. 🙄
@lucidiot@tilde.town @kas@enotty.dk Thx, will play with that. 😃
@lucidiot@tilde.town @kas@enotty.dk Oh, I found out my android keyboard also can easily do … But how do you do this on Linux?
@kas@enotty.dk Will try some other time. I realized the new neomutt doesn’t like my config and I am not in the mood to debug this I’m back to the one in debian/testing.
@kas@enotty.dk It was released with 20191025 but 20191102 in Debian/SID seems to not be compiled with autocrypt support. Building the package myself fails and I don’t know what libs might be missing. :D
@kas@enotty.dk Oh I didn’t know a recent release brought autocrypt directly to neomutt. When I tried some 3rd party tool was necessary.
@kas@enotty.dk Last time I tried to activate autocrypt for neomutt nothing worked. How hard was it for you to set up?

@johanbove@johanbove.info Seems something went wrong and you tweeted your following list.
#Apple of 2019 is the #Linux of 2000: https://nibblestew.blogspot.com/2019/10/apple-of-2019-is-linux-of-2000.html?m=1
@lucidiot@tilde.town You are heard. 😁
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net @adiabetic@www.frogorbits.com I’m really not into MacOS so I had no idea what Catalina might be. But I like the zsh. 😃
@adiabetic@www.frogorbits.com What is Catalina? A new shell?
Woohoo, sent Färjestad Karlstad home with a 2-1 so München is already qualified for the knockouts. 😃 It’s always like winning a trophy when a german team beats a Swedish team. #CHL
@von@tilde.town I moved my family to xmpp. For friends you might consider quicksy that works like WhatsApp but you can reach them via normal xmpp. Maybe you will also find some interesting groupchats there: https://search.jabber.network/rooms/1
The #xmpp newsletter 10/2019 is the first one which got translated to German: https://www.jabber.de/xmpp-newsletter-01-oktober-2019-fosdem-2020-modernisierung-von-xmpp-peer-networks/
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Yeah, jabber.org is in a bad shape. I have an old account there and ‘donated’ it to the conversations compliance tester. Was afraid when I saw the result.
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Sure the j*u*abber is not a typo?
@fortune-hourly-bot@www.thunix.net Too much!
Some news from the #xmpp #Stockholm sprint: https://bouah.net/2019/10/sprint-in-the-cold-north/
@von@tilde.town Good luck. I wrote poems twice for a girl. They were rather short, the girls name length in lines. And if you read the lines first character from bottom to top you got, … I guess that’s obvious. 😁
@von@tilde.town I am no dev and I have to use what the company uses.
@von@tilde.town I envy you for being able to use #Linux at work.

@mdom@domgoergen.com Looks good now. Thx!
@kasdk@enotty.dk I am testing the txtnish fix from @mdom@domgoergen.com.
@kas@enotty.dk Your link made it into the libraries test. 😂 https://github.com/FluuxIO/go-xmpp/commit/005c8823d9a3d57c133737f1f889658c3ddb869b
@kas@enotty.dk (re @ ) The ‘%F %f %s’ doesn’t make problems now as I quick and dirty added replacing % with %%. 😁
What a match. Ingolstadt was leading 3-1 and 4-2 but Munich fought back and won 4-7! #INGvsRBM Also 5th regular time win in a row, so Munich remains unbeaten in the new season. Seems this season will be a lot of fun again.
@kas@enotty.dk Didn’t know of this one. Will try it, THX.
@kas@enotty.dk Oh, it’s so bad? I created an issue. So you might comment there if you have knowledge of possible vulnerabilities. https://github.com/FluuxIO/XMPP/issues/6
@kas@enotty.dk yes, gosrc.io/xmpp is using a lot of fprintf and seems to not do escaping for % 😒
@mdom@domgoergen.com I will file an issue.
@kas@enotty.dk It looks like the message is f***ed up by the #xmpp library I am using and not by my code. :-/
Regarding my problem with some chars from @kas@enotty.dkdk: The txtnish output looks fine. As I don’t see anything in my program that could cause this I asked in the #golang #xmpp room. Let’s see if someone has a good idea.
