I should have changed the key binding from Print to Shift+Print a long time ago to launch import and upload the screenshot to my server. I was constantly hitting that stupid key on accident when I actually wanted to press [AltGr].

If I only could map a key binding to slap these damn ThinkPad T15 keyboard layout designers at Lenovo remotely in the face. Seriously, who in their right mind puts Print (in German Druck) between AltGr and Ctrl at the bottom row to begin with?! Exactly. Nobody. What a horrible location.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org These days (and it’s been like that for a while), almost everything is loaded on-demand depending on which hardware the OS finds, so you can simply copy all your files with cp -a, install a bootloader, adjust some minor things /etc/fstab, done. Well, maybe not “done”, but it’s easy to sort out the remaining stuff afterwards.

I’ve moved the Arch installation at work from a stationary Dell workstation to an Acer laptop to a Lenovo Carbon laptop to a Tuxedo laptop to a Lenovo Thinkpad. 😅

Yeah, the keyboard of the netbook isn’t all that great, but I have to say that I absolutely love netbooks. And I hate that they got replaced by tablets and smartphones. A netbook is a normal PC, just very small and super easy to carry around – that’s brilliant!

I have a late-2010s ThinkPad running OpenBSD, but it’s about as fast as a snail carrying heavy shopping through molasses. I’d like to run something other than Linux, for variety, but the other members of the BSD family failed for various reasons. What OS do you guys think I should try?

Laptops are in good condition, battery can last several hours still, biggest defect is the Touch Bar (which includes the F1-F12 and media keys) is turning hazy and is not cosmetically pleasant. Touch Bar and thus keys all still work. Each laptop has a valid Windows 10 keys but I can also install Ubuntu or Debian upon request.

I’ve updated my article about keyboard layouts with XKB after 13
years!

Good morning to you all! Just had the morning walk with the dog in the rain, it’s raining pretty bad today, all day.
But that also means I have some time for my computer later today. I just have to figure out what to do first :)
Probably code a bit, or reinstall one of my computers, I’ve been wanting to run #OpenBSD again, I tried it on one of my laptops, but wifi did not work for some reason, but I have some wifi dongles - so I’ll try with that, or install on one of my other laptops.
I have a #Thinkpad #x200 with #libreboot, I might give it a shot there - all though it takes some time to get it to work with libreboot, I did install it some years ago though, so I think that should work again now. Either way I’ll figure out something to tinker with today!
