I have to admit I’m very impressed with wsl2, they have done a damn good job on that. Makes it very easy to develop linux stuff on windows when needed. And removes the need for virtual machine or dualbooting etc. Also they have done a really good job integrating it with vscode.

I tested the yarn desktop client on wsl2 on windows 11, compiled and ran just fine there. Nice to have linux applications with gui on windows.

Acho que é importante dizer algo sobre o AtlasOS, desactivar completamente todas as funcionalidades de segurança do windows, para ganhar 2 fps extra e obter malware para dar ‘own’ à microsoft não é a melhor ideia e näo vale a pena de todo.

julien040/gut: An easy-to-use git client for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Got some good progress on the GTK gui today, got the timeline to work!
Took some time to figure out how the UI layout stuff works, but it looks good now.
I will add the avatars next.

The way it is right now - I got this up and running in a couple of hours, instead of ‘days’ with FLTK.
So I’m glad I made the decision to switch to GTK,
Right now I’m doing all development on Trisquel OS, windows version will come later on.

Also - since I thought about the possibility that I wanted to switch early in the process the code that does all the work is UI independent, meaning this was easy to do. +1 for planning ahead.. :)
I will post a screenshot of the new UI soon, once it’s a bit polished.

Got the cmake file updated, compiles and now it opens a GTK window, need to add the timeline and buttons that I had in FLTK, the other code related to parsing the statuses and all that is independent from the GUI so it’ll be pretty quick to switch over once I have defined the new GUI elements.

Turns out the problem I had was also there when I build rapidjson from source, but if I moved the include to earlier (rapidjson in my project) - the problem went away, so I suspect it’s the same as in this issue going on.

The cool thing is that the client now works fine on linux without changing anything else then the include order!
So now I’ll do all development there - instead of on windows.

I’m trying to switch from Konversation to irssi. Let’s see how that goes. Any irssiers out there who can recommend specific settings or scripts? I already got myself trackbar.pl and nickcolor.pl as super-essentials. Also trying window_switcher.pl. Somehow my custom binds for Ctrl+1/2/3/etc. to switch to window 1/2/3/etc. doesn’t do anything: { key = "^1"; id = "change_window"; data = "1"; } (I cannot use the default with Alt as this is handled by my window manager). Currently, I’m just cycling with Ctrl+N/P. Other things to solve in the near future:

• better, more colorful and compact theme (just removed clock from statusbar so far)
  
• getting bell/urgency hints working on arriving messages
  
• nicer tabs in status bar, maybe even just channel names and no indexes
  
• decluster status bar with user and channel modes (I never cared about those in the last decade)
