Chrome OS Flex and CloudReady
At first I missed the news, but today I somehow stumbled across it: Google has released an early access version of “Chrome OS Flex”, as a result of the integration of CloudReady into Chrome OS. CloudReady also ran under my radar until today, but I did take the time to give both a try. ⌘ Read more

I think google voice has been winding that down.

Thanks, I’d forgotten about that. I’d rather avoid Google Voice, and I’m okay paying (reasonably). Looking like Twilio might have most of what I want natively.

Instead of banging my head on Advent of Code, I coded something useful today: Text-to-Speech for GoBlog using the official Google Text-to-Speech API. When posting, an audio file is generated automatically from the post content. And, I have to praise myself for this, I documented the feature as well! 😄 ⌘ Read more

“Browservice” brings modern web browsing to 1990s computers
Take a look at this: “What am I looking at?” That, right there, is Windows 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups)… loading up the Google Cloud VM manager. A website that requires a modern web browser. But, that isn’t a modern web browser. That is Internet Explorer 4.0. On Windows 3.11. Seriously. ⌘ Read more

Bookmarked : Fix Facebook by Making It More Like Google+ - The Atlantic
My colleague Adrienne LaFrance has named the fundamental assumption, and danger, of social media megascale: “not just a very large user base, but a tremendous one, unprecedented in size.” Technology platforms such as Facebook assume that they deserve a user base measured in the billions of people—and then excuse their misdeeds by noting that effectively controlling such an unthinkably la … ⌘ Read more

@movq@www.uninformativ.de To clarify, Markdown is just text. 😊 I can do bolding, link things, and if single return multilines ever comes to jenny, I would be able to do bulleted and numbered lists.

Headings are OK too

The only things—that I know of—that doesn’t work is “> “, but I can use “>”, like so:

D’oh!

So, jenny allows me to write Markdown almost just fine!

YouTube Channel Deletion

YouTube Channel Deletion

by Luke Smith

Google is prepping to delete my YouTube channel.
As of today (March 26, 2021), I now cannot post for another two weeks.
YouTube “strikes” which are functionally unappealable (automatically rejected) last for 3 months.
If they give thee concurrent strikes, you channel is permanently deleted.

If YouTube Jannies delete my YouTube channel, remember that

Hot take: the lack of targetting effectiveness in Cambridge Analytica & Google Ads doesn’t excuse it. There are 4 sins here: taking the data, trying to target with it, targetting poorly, and overselling targetting accuracy. They compound.
