I applaud this, but I also advise against this for your career. Unless the change you’re making has immediate and significant business benefits, from a PM/EM perspective you’re 1) wasting time 2) potentially introducing bugs. The correct move is to wait until the org is so bogged down with tech debt that meaningful progress cannot be made, then switch companies/teams. in case you’re wondering why I stuck to the 90s and didn’t convert the 2000s stuff, it’s because the 90s stories are basically the first arc of BOFH in my eyes. he suffers his ambiguous end in the last ‘99 story (narrated by the PFY), so I figure it’s a nice place to stop.

@prologic@twtxt.net Yep! installed it yesterday. I like the simplicity of twt. I am quite happy with how little memory the pod seems to use. Mastodon and the “lightweight” Pleroma don’t work well in small VMs.

That way at least we can form some kind of cryptographic “identity” without having to involve the users that much, it just works™

@prologic@twtxt.net huh.. true.. the email is md5/sha256 before storing.. if twtxt acted as provider you would store that hash and point the SRV record to the pod. .. to act as a client it would need to store the hash and the server that hosts the image.

@prologic@twtxt.net it is some interesting work to decentralize all the things.. tricky part is finding tooling. i am using a self hacked version of the go openpgp library. A tool to add and remove notations would need to be local since it needs your private key.

The copy I’m reading is from archive.org, and it is archive.org-tastic, complete with OCR defects and weirdness. Good dash of comedy so far to leaven the mood, since the girl just lost her parents and all. Her caretaker is named Perfidy, which means something like unfaithful or disloyal.
it is short, 140 pages, according to the table of contents. First impressions: 4 pages in. It is about a plucky, precocious redhead girl whose parents are lost at sea, and who is definitely NOT Pippi Longstocking. Distinct lack of waffles so far. Am disappoint.
