Canadian cities ‘not gatekeepers,’ head of mayors’ group tells Poilievre
The president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities says his members are community builders and not gatekeepers, a term Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has commonly used to attack municipal bureaucrats. Ben Stokes dismissed suggestions England lack a ruthless edge and expressed pride at how his team have fared in Indian conditions after not being given a “chance in hell” of success. Adding attributes to individual twts similar to adding feed attributes in the heading comments.
https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/go-lextwt/pulls/17
The basic use case would be for multilingual feeds where there is a default language and some twts will be written a different language.
As seen in the wild: https://eapl.mx/twtxt.txt
The attributes are formatted as [key=value]
They can show up in the twt anywhere it is not enclosed by another element such as codeblock
or part of a markdown link.
Getting warmer tomorrow and the next week or so, hope most of the snow melts so that I can head out and walk in the forest again - I miss that.
How to Check Battery Capacity & Cycle Count from Command Line on Mac

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org wind is pretty bad about -15c in wind chill, I should have snowgoggles, but the cap helps (can just tilt head down in the worst wind). Been a crazy day, walked the dog 5km, came home, took over a meter of snow off veranda, helped 2 cars that was stuck on our street, helped neighbour showeling the snow to get his car in, then dug out our car (just in case we need it), and then had to walk to the store (2km) and back because you cant get car out from our street tonight. So for the rest of the evening Im not doing nothing. Haha
They closed svhools tomorrow as well because of the chaos.
I would love to be able to time travel back to the days when Talking Heads toured and witness one of their epic live concerts.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I lasted for a long time.. Not sure where or when it was “got”. We had been having a cold go around with the kiddos for about a week when the wife started getting sicker than normal. Did a test and she was positive. We tested the rest of the fam and got nothing. Till about 2 days later and myself and the others were positive. It largely hasn’t been too bad a little feaver and stuffy noses.
But whatever it was that hit a few days ago was horrible. Like whatever switch in my head that goes to sleep mode was shut off. I would lay down and even though I felt sleepy, I couldn’t actually go to sleep. The anxiety hit soon after and I was just awake with no relief. And it persisted that way for three nights. I got some meds from the clinic that seemed to finally get me to sleep.
Now the morning after I realized for all that time a part of me was missing. I would close my eyes and it would just go dark. No imagination, no pictures, nothing. Normally I can visualize things as I read or think about stuff.. But for the last few days it was just nothing. The waking up to it was quite shocking.
Though its just the first night.. I guess I’ll have to see if it persists. 🤞
Today it’s cold, a bit of snow in the air. I’ll head out for a long walk in a bit, I’ll go a new place, a 9km trail. I’ll try to remember to take some pictures.
Wish you all a great Saturday!
So.. Of y’all that had covid. Did you have at the end a night where for no reason your brain amped up to 11 and can’t sleep at all? It happened to me last night and my FIL the night before.
I went to bed at 8 and woke up full on anxiety attack at 12 and could not calm my head until around 7 am. Today has sucked a lot.
I have not been feeling good the past two days, caught a cold. So yesterday I was very lazy, luckily the kids where busy with their things, and Marlyn took Nanook to the dogpark to let him blow off some steam. Today I feel much better, so I headed out early for a 5km walk in the forest with the dog before everyone got up this morning. When I came home my daughter went to her friends house, so she will probably be gone for the rest of the day, and my son is playing games with his friends. Its still raining a lot here, but I managed to do to the walk in between the rain. Now Im working some more on the laptop I installed OpenBSD on this weekend. Getting more stuff set up on it.
Heading off to the dog park tonight, will be nice for our dog to run as much as he likes! It’s a plot of forest that’s fenced in, and it’s big enough for you to do some walking there as well and train on recall and all that good stuff.
From my small experience in writing an event database, I am inclined to agree with this.
Imagine having this wrapped around your head 😱

I recently re-read Peter Naur’s“Programming as theory building”. Afterwards I set out to write my own text editor. The paper posits that it’s really hard, if not impossible, to fully communicate about a program and sort of gestures at the futility of documentation…what spun around inside my head as I read was that our primary programming medium — text files — is silly. @prologic@twtxt.net Me too! I really wanted to do some winter camping this year, but I have not been motivated enough to pack up and go when the weekend comes - but one day soon I will head out and do that :)

Trying to wrap my head around webfinger..
my first thoughts about it were that a subject of acct:me@sour.is would have a listing of rel’s for the different accounts that are related to me (ie. yarn, salty, twitter, mastodon, etc…)
but maybe my thinking is at the wrong level.. that each of those accounts would be on a subject level and the rels are describing different aspects of that account. so i would have salty:acct:xuu@sour.is, twitter:acct:xuu, mastodon:acct:xuu@chaos.social, yarn:acct:xuu@ev.sour.is and then i could have a main acct:me@sour.is that links them together as aliases.
I found okta will do something similar with its accounts to show as okta:acct:user@domain so maybe I am on to something?
I’ll let the head of the bird site comment on that:
Gophers headed to the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City on December 29. Well, its something anyway.
Brought our dog to work today, so nice to have one that handles the cold without any issues. He just chills in his crate in the car while I work, and I take some small breaks to let him stretch his legs. Loves to play around in the snow. I could then take the ‘long’ walk on my way home instead of getting home first - then head out again.
@prologic@twtxt.net thank you, it was really nice. The dog wanted to get up at 8 this morning, so I put him in the car and went for a long walk so that the rest of the house could sleep in. I came back last night after 4 day work trip, so it was nice to get up today and just head out for a walk.
