In-reply-to » @prologic hm, it seems to be full disk that's the issue, same problem with the avatar in tmp it seems that's mentioned earlier here. I deleted them now. I regained 33% space (9GB).

@prologic@twtxt.net hm, I installed latest go (vps did not have that intalled), I then did make deps, then make server, when I use the last command it said minify was not installed, I assumed minify package was the one to get, but it fails with that. (debian).

$ cp live.iso /dev/sda
$ sync

E tá feito

In-reply-to » QOTD: What do you host on your home server? How do you host it? Are you using containers? VMs? Did you install any management interface or do you just SSH in? What OS does it run?

@mckinley@twtxt.net for me:

  • a wall mount 6U rack which has:
    • 1U patch panel
    • 1U switch
    • 2U UPS
    • 1U server, intel atom 4G ram, debian (used to be main. now just has prometheus)
  • a mini ryzon 16 core 64G ram, fedora (new main)
    • multiple docker services hosted.
  • synology nas with 4 2TB drives
  • turris omnia WRT router -> fiber uplink

network is a mix of wireguard, zerotier.

  • wireguard to my external vms hosted in various global regions.
    • this allows me ingress since my ISP has me behind CG-NAT
  • zerotier is more for devices for transparent vpn into my network

i use ssh and remote desktop to get in and about. typically via zerotier vpn. I have one of my VMs with ssh on a backup port for break glass to get back into the network if needed.

everything has ipv6 though my ISP does not provide it. I have to tunnel it in from my VMs.

In-reply-to » Got latest OpenBSD installed on one of my laptops, now Ill try and get the desktop client to work there. This will be fun!

First issue I ran into is rapidjson, there is no package for it, but it compiled from source without google tests. But I did not check what version I had on my debian machine, so I need to check that and compile the same version on openbsd. Ill work on that tomorrow.

Does anyone have any personal experience with Spiral Linux? It is just preconfigured Debian + your choice of DE installed with Calamares. After the installation is completed, you aren’t dependent on anything except the existing Debian infrastructure which is, of course, rock-solid.

Never figured out what the issue was, so I switched back to debian tonight, got everything working, so now I can code efficiently again. Feels good.

And I do distrohop a lot, but now I’m sticking with debian (I promise :p ), always end up back on it..

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org We use gitlab daily at work. but for my own projects I use gogs. I have some scripts that I used for a gnusocial client that I maintained (before leaving gnusocial). I’ll see if I can adapt that and make deb files for the yarn client - I mostly use debian \ Trisquel my self, so I also like .deb as well.

@prologic@twtxt.net Yeah, apparently it was a bit of old new (according to twitter), but still - looking forward to have a risc-v desktop system. :)
Hopefully it’ll not be too long until something like that hits the market with a price that I can pay for it.
I do have 2 risk-v devices already, one mangopi (like a raspberrypi zero), and one HiFive1 Rev B (like a arduino).
The Hifive rev B was a waste of time and money for me - but I bought it anyways, too ‘embedded’ for my liking, so not easy to make things work on that. The mangopi is perfect, got all my desktop stuff set up on that running debian.

Kids are in bed, dog is sleeping, Marlyn is watching Tv, and I’m on the computer trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the night. Last week of vacation now, so I get more and more interrested in doing things on the computer. Played around a bit with my Risc-v SBC today (Mangopi), it runs debian, got everything updated and all that, thinking about setting up a webserver on it. It has 512mb ram, so it should be fine to host some static website on it.
