In-reply-to » I got a cool idea for a bot, since I've been learning the slixmpp python library to rebuild my bot and get off of errbot framework. On how to make twtxt posts, with a (currently unknown) selection of meta data from the RSS of them, and a sort of (tho I'm sure this is an incorrect term) webhooks for the XMPP chats and have them post when the bot refreshes it's read of the RSS files.

@chunkimo@twtxt.net It’s mostly documented here: https://dev.twtxt.net/

In-reply-to » Anyone know of any good, cheap laptops to use for just day-to-day activities (web surfing, sysadmin, web design, etc) that’s not a Chromebook? My Microsoft Surface Go I got some years ago blue screens when I plug it into my dock.

Jinx 😆

@chunkimo@twtxt.net Ahh I see 👌 Well Yarn pods have a ReST API too btw – primarily used by the mobile app; what I’m on now

In-reply-to » @prologic how can I post an image here and it show the image, I seen one guy did that. help?

@chunkimo@twtxt.net by default pods do not permit rendering of images inline unless the operator of the pod has permitted those domains.

just let me know which domains are missing, and I’ll add them!

otherwise, just upload the image using the media upload button 👌

In-reply-to » Hi guys! My first ever Yarn post 😺 📦

@chunkimo@twtxt.net In germs of “federated” yes and no. we don’t use that term as it doesn’t really apply for Yarn.social which uses Twtxt and has no meaning.

But you can follow feeds across pods and other self-Hosted Twtxt feeds (it’s all just Twtxt) 👌

In-reply-to » Wow 😱 So here's something horrifying funny, sand dna pathetic. I'm subscribed to this one substack, from a guy I know that started this newsletter thing digging into what's cool in open source and doing interviews with developers. It's a nice thing I get on a Monday morning 👌

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci It’s all just a tad bit insane isn’t really 🤣 What is wrong with us humans ?! 🤦‍♂️

But… Surprise surprise, I’m now getting “Web3 Summary” emails in my inbox today. Did I ever subscribe to any other substack?! No! 🤦‍♂️ What da flying fuq is wrong with these companies that run these things?! Substack should be ashamed of themselves, seriously. 😢

remember when Aaron Swartz was criminally prosecuted for downloading too many academic journal articles, but, sure, it’s totally cool to scrape everyone’s personal photographs as part of a commercial effort to market discriminatory surveillance tech to police departments.

In-reply-to » To my surprise, some AI companies, might have to face the consequences of their art theft afterall. While the legal and corporate world, still couldn't give less of a shit about the small artists, stability ai made the critical mistake, of using the ever so precious bland and generic stock images. Those are owned by companies, who for obvious reasons, hate AI, have extremely deep pockets and access to the right kind of lawyers.

@thecanine@twtxt.net Good 😆 I’ll grab the popcorn 🍿 Keep us updated 🙏

In-reply-to » Q: Is anyone actually finding the activitypub experimental feature I've been working on (for those running main) actually useful? 🤔 (because I'm not and having second thoughts...)

I guess what I’m trying to say is, it isn’t very interesting (for me at least) to “follow” people where “conversations” are just one sided 🤦‍♂️ it makes interesting discourse basically impossible and you end up just being an outside observer. Hmmm 🤔 – Maybe Mastodon/Fedvierse is so big that even if we truly integrate, fix all the bugs, improve the hell out of the UX, that nobody will give a shit™ ? 🤣
