Not making THREADING the default view of e-mail clients and thus teaching users that e-mail is “chaotic” (if you get a lot of mail, it becomes unusable without threading) and “needs” full quoting all the time was one of the worst mistakes ever.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de completely agree. Also, love the ability Thunderbird used to have (don’t know if still does, don’t use it) to allow searching for message-id, which we could use to edit emails to fix threats. I used to do it in Mutt too.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de @bender@twtxt.net I agree 100% and refuse to TOFU. Even at work.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Today I actually received an e-mail à la “I reply directly to your questions down below in red”. Not the same, but I was still happily surprised. With my own plaintext reply I got rid of his nice color… ;-)
The only upside with TOFU is that you can easily forward an entire conversation to somebody else. But these chains tend to be quite horrible to read anyway.
My email is such a cluster of noise. The only time i actually use it is to find out I have to do my security training or something. All communication is slack now days.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Agreed.
