** Wobbly updates or a sort of week notes **
Hello RSS goblins.
It’s unseasonably warm here, and well, I suppose everywhere. That’s…frightening, but before I let that weigh to heavily on this post I must move on.
It’s been a gorgeous weekend. We took the kids to the beach Friday after dinner, expecting to play on the sand and scramble up the rocks, but they actually each went swimming. They had a blast. The car is filled with sand, and I hope that last little hurrah of summer hangs around for a bit.
We also went putt putt golfi … ⌘ Read more
I experimented with a 2.4x7mm aluminium rivet I had on hand. As expected, it was quite a bit long. Using my pliers wrench, I was able to crush it down by quite some bit. I should have taken a photo right after the hand riveter for comparison. Now, it’s much smoother and the chance of cutting my hand open is reduced by quite a bit. But breaking the burr with a few file strokes is still necessary. I should get 2.4x4mm rivets and try with them. I reckon they would be more suited for my 0.5mm sheet metal.
With the pliers wrench again, I was able to also crush down the chopped off 3mm copper nail and form a second head. That was surprisingly easy. Now, I need to figure out how to efficiently make a head on the remaining copper nail shaft, so that I can use this again.
Both are rock solid, there’s absolutely no movement at all between the two sheet metal cutoffs.
@prologic@twtxt.net I know you were away, but were you under a rock?! 😅
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Ucycling just rocks to hard!
@bender@twtxt.net Hahaha, I bet you could use it for a myriad of things! :-D
Its a problem, if most of the real estates are in the hands of foreign companies. Who ownes the land, the oil and gas fields, the power plants, lithium and uranium? Who ownes Black Rock?
@prologic@twtxt.net This looks really nice! I love the view. For a brief second, the rock in the left bottom corner of the first photo reminded me of a croc tail. These are some massive cliffs, I get the impression that walking down there feels cool during the heat. Yeah, it’s winter over there, but it cooled me off by just looking at it. :-) Oh no, somebody lost their hat.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de @kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz It’s awful, “just” 32°C here. When I rode my bike into town I came across some spots where the heat was stationary built up and really intense. The airflow felt like the sauna attendant poured water over the heated rocks and severely fanned the hot air with his towel.

, so we sat down on a bench and could really enjoy the sun heating us up. Apart from the haze, the view was really nice.
There were even patches of snow left up top, that was unexpected. Also, somebody created a cool rock art piece on a tree stump. That one rock absolutely looked like a face. Crazy!
@bender@twtxt.net And if that rock won’t hit us, there still is a chance in 2038, to get everything shut down. 🤓
It was mostly cloudy, but every now and then the sun peaked through. With very little wind, the 12°C felt quite nice. Especially for a hike. With the sun completely hidden and more wind, the lunch break at the summit was a bit chilly, though.
There’s a bad looking crack in the climbing rock in 10. When you have eagle eyes, you might be able to see the hooks in the cliff for the climbing ropes. I haven’t seen this one before. Also, it looked like several cubic meters of earth, grass and rock fell off the top.
On the way home, it got much more sunny. I found yet another skyrocket stick. That was pretty neat. And we saw the first field of snowdrops. With some bees checking them out. In total we walked a bit over 15km.

@prologic@twtxt.net it was really nice! But also one of the more stressful walks, I had to turn back, because it was so slick on the rock that it was really hard to walk, and I fell once (that rarely happens), and when the dog was going to jump over a big gap in the rock on the trail he got scared, and pulled himself out of the harness and got some minutes of freedom.
There are sheep there too , so I got lucky that he did not go straight to them. Had some snacks in my pocket and got him back with that.
