** Occasional notes **
If they aren’t weekly, I guess they’re occasional?

3rd repair procedure to fix brain bleed was a success. I have a few more scans and follow ups, but, knock wood I think I’m through at this point.

I’ve spent about a week laying low and taking it easy navigating some wild pain, but that is subsiding now. I watched a bunch of stuff. It was a nice change of pace. I don’t typically watch much television or many movies. Stand outs (all things I revisited) include:

  • Michael Clayton
  • Point Break, the o … ⌘ Read more

** week notes **
Am I allowed to call them“week notes” if I don’t do them weekly?

I went in for what was supposed to be my final brain scan, a diagnostic angiogram (don’t look that up). The good news is that the repair has officially cured my brain bleed! The bad news is that they saw another vessel that looks primed to bleed; I’m due for another repair procedure sometime in October. I’m pretty bummed to not be done with this ordeal, but trying to remain optimistic that this new one was caught before it bled and because the surgeon s … ⌘ Read more

In-reply-to » It should be illegal for firealarms to sound a low battery after 10pm and before 8 am.

We had a neighbor that went away for a week, and his fire alarm beeped because of low battery all that time, and we could hear it pretty loud at our place…

I’ve been lost in my DAW for a week now. Making music – especially something along the lines of Metal with actual instruments, not just synthesizers – is so hard. 😩 Makes you appreciate the work of all those artists out there a lot more.

Kids are in bed, dog is sleeping, Marlyn is watching Tv, and I’m on the computer trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the night. Last week of vacation now, so I get more and more interrested in doing things on the computer. Played around a bit with my Risc-v SBC today (Mangopi), it runs debian, got everything updated and all that, thinking about setting up a webserver on it. It has 512mb ram, so it should be fine to host some static website on it.

Important notes for LARBS users
Two notes for LARBS users:

  1. Xorg went through some updates last week that changed how it calculates dots-per-inch (DPI) on screens. There’s a chance that you might update and find your font extra large or small. If so, you can just manually addxrandr --dpi 96 to the beginning of your xprofile to set the DPI to the typical 96 (or whatever number looks best).
  2. I have no switched new installs of LARBS from using Pulseaudio to Pipewire as an … ⌘ Read more

Video: C Programming on System 6 - Amend Revision Control System
It’s been almost a year since my last confessional video. A few weeks ago I started working on a small revision control system to handle my C projects developed on my Mac and it’s now at the point where I can at least manage commits to the tool itself. ⌘ Read more

Is it Friday yet? I feel this week is as slow as a drying paint on wall, and it is only Tuesday! I know I should not want time to pass quick, as that get us closer to the inevitable, but geez!

I’m getting back into running after a couple of weeks downtime. My left knee is not what it used to be, and I’ve decided to ease back into it. Mentally I’ve accepted that I’ll probably never run 10km in 37:42 again, but emotionally I fear getting slower… As if a slight decline, while saving myself from injuries, would be a defeat.

Important: LindyPress undergoing some updates
Although I haven’t announced in a video on the YouTube channel yet, I’m glad that there’s been a lot of interest in LindyPress.net. I haven’t done a video on it just because there are some details in the site coding we’re still figuring out, but books are already printing, shipping and arriving at some of your houses.

Just a couple technical notes:

  • I switched the Stripe backend of the site over the week … ⌘ Read more

YouTube Channel Deletion

YouTube Channel Deletion

by Luke Smith

Google is prepping to delete my YouTube channel.
As of today (March 26, 2021), I now cannot post for another two weeks.
YouTube “strikes” which are functionally unappealable (automatically rejected) last for 3 months.
If they give thee concurrent strikes, you channel is permanently deleted.

If YouTube Jannies delete my YouTube channel, remember that

Emergency: re: YouTube
Hi everyone.

YouTube has given an arbitrary strike to one of my videos.
I am temporarily blocked and banned from posting on YouTube for a week.

I mentioned in a stream that I was planning to wean myself off YouTube as a platform in 2021,
but now I might have to move faster, only three strikes means a permanent channel deletion.
Considering how inconsistent and ambiguous YouTube’s pretended rules are,
I expect to wake up every day with those final strikes.

Frankly, YouTube shouldn’t be … ⌘ Read more
