@movq@www.uninformativ.de so the pathfinding puzzle has arrived?

Yes I have threading on. I wanted to put new posts at the top with set sort_aux = reverse-last-date-sent but that that makes the threads do the newest first not bellow the reply. So all replies are in a top newest order. But I can just use sort date_sent and then go to the end to go to the newest post.
@prologic@twtxt.net
I saw that but then I refreshed the ublock lists and I could watch.
@prologic@twtxt.net That is good even though I do see mutt getting confusing with all the replies and threads.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de it shouldn’t need a full bignum implementation right? Just some left and right shifts for the sq/sqrt and carry for the addition right?

@eapl.me@eapl.me I have many fond memories of Turbo pascal and Turbo C(++). They really did have a great help system. And debug tools! Its rare for language docs to be as approachable. QBasic was great. As was PHP docs when I first came into web.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de Did you get the email I sent? I found two emails and did not know what one to send to.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Its more than one line I can email it to you if you like
@prologic@twtxt.net Great now I can start using twtxt and reply.
@prologic@twtxt.net Does putting the hash in my reply work?
@prologic@twtxt.net @xuu@txt.sour.is Don’t think I can reply to the thread in twtwt. Right now Jenny is not working for some reason. I wonder if @movq@www.uninformativ.de has any ideas. Anyway I am happy to be back and will see if I can get jenny working. Though my following list is gone now. Plus I can’t see when someone mentions me if I am not follwing them so I should work on that.
@jason@jasonsanta.xyz if you do see this.. Welcome back! 👋🏼

@movq@www.uninformativ.de Dang. Really going overboard with this!
@prologic@twtxt.net I didn’t have to do much backtracking. I parsed into an AST-ish table and then just needed some lookups.
The part 2 was pretty easy to work into the AST after.

@xuu@txt.sour.is Ah, you went with the “scanning” approach as well. I did that, too.
It’s quite surprising to see (imho) how many people on reddit started substituting strings (one becomes 1 etc.). That makes the puzzle much harder by introducing nasty corner cases.
(Maybe I was just lucky this time to pick the correct approach right from the start. 🤣 Or maybe it’s a bit of experience from doing past AoC events …)
~22h to go for the 3rd #AdventOfCode puzzle (Day 3) 😅

@slashdot@feeds.twtxt.net I feel like this is a bit of a common pattern? Company builds an awesome product, makes it free for a lot of users, then create additional features and paid plans, makes a tonne of money. But then later decide they need to make more money, so focus on converting the free users to paid users. Hmmm 🤔 Surely this can’t be the only viable business model? 🤔
Obligatory Twtxt post: I love how I can simply use a terminal window and some very basic tools (echo, scp, ssh) to publish thoughts, as they pop up, onto the Internet in a structured way, that can be found and perhaps even appreciated.
@eapl.me@eapl.me This is cool Windows history. Thanks for sharing

@prologic@twtxt.net its not.. There are going to be 1000s of copy cat apps built on AI. And they will all die out when the companies that have the AI platforms copy them. It happened all the time with windows and mac os. And iphone.. Like flashlight and sound recorder apps.

@prologic@twtxt.net the new product was GPTs. A way to create tailored bots for specific use cases. https://openai.com/blog/introducing-gpts (fun fact: I did an internal hackathon where we made something like this for $work onboarding. And I won a prize!)
The competed project is poe https://quorablog.quora.com/Introducing-creator-monetization-for-Poe which is basically the same idea. Make a AI bot tailored to a specific domain of knowledge. And monitize it.
The timing fits very well as openAI announced it just a few weeks ago.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I played that DOS Tetris game too over and over on my PC, mezmerized over the 3D graphics.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Thanks for reaching out - just general wonkiness with the Epson printing job configuration UI. They offer Fedora software, but it seems that not all features are supported
I have added a webmention endpoint to https://darch.dk using https://webmention.io - let see if it work from neotxt.dk to @sorenpeter@darch.dk
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I lasted for a long time.. Not sure where or when it was “got”. We had been having a cold go around with the kiddos for about a week when the wife started getting sicker than normal. Did a test and she was positive. We tested the rest of the fam and got nothing. Till about 2 days later and myself and the others were positive. It largely hasn’t been too bad a little feaver and stuffy noses.
But whatever it was that hit a few days ago was horrible. Like whatever switch in my head that goes to sleep mode was shut off. I would lay down and even though I felt sleepy, I couldn’t actually go to sleep. The anxiety hit soon after and I was just awake with no relief. And it persisted that way for three nights. I got some meds from the clinic that seemed to finally get me to sleep.
Now the morning after I realized for all that time a part of me was missing. I would close my eyes and it would just go dark. No imagination, no pictures, nothing. Normally I can visualize things as I read or think about stuff.. But for the last few days it was just nothing. The waking up to it was quite shocking.
Though its just the first night.. I guess I’ll have to see if it persists. 🤞

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I’m also on the e-mail wagon here. On http://darch.dk/timeline/conv/oe3howa I have added a “Comment via email” botten if uses are not logged in. This feature could be extend to other places in the various UIs. Like we already got the “Does not follow your” / “Follow you” on the profile page in yarnd, so this detection could be used to sugget the user to email that person, when mentioning them.
@eapl.me@eapl.me Which problems are those? 🤔
The only “advanced” Tetris I played back then was “Block Out”:

Except it didn’t run nearly as smooth as in this video. 😅
I’ve been thinking of how to notify someone else that you’ve replied to their twts.
Is there something already developed, for example on yarn.social?
Let’s say I want to notify https://sour.is/tiktok/America/Denver.txt that I’ve replied to some twt. They don’t follow me back, so they won’t see my reply.
I would send my URL to, could be, https://sour.is/tiktok/replies?url=MY_URL and they’ll check that I have a reply to some of their twts, and could decide to follow me back (after seeing my twtxt profile to avoid spam)
Another option could be having a metadata like
follow-request=https://sour.is/tiktok/America/Denver.txt TIMESTAMP_IN_SECONDS
that the other client has to look for, to ensure that the request comes from that URL (again, to avoid spam)
This could be deleted after the other .txt has your URL in the follow list, or auto-expire after X days to clean-up old requests.
What do you think?
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org hm, thanks for letting me know, unsure why it’s slow, it’s a VPS I rent. I’ll check on it from my end later.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Ah yes, I zoomed all the way back to get a wide image. Yeah - he’s pretty big :)
So now that I have a basic Twtxt form, I can also update my feed even when I am not on my PC.
@prologic@twtxt.net sunrise ;) was nice this morning, one of the best things with this time of year.
@johanbove@johanbove.info Sounds interesting. It is only for reading or also posting?

But still - makes me mad that they put that tracking infront of a paywall like that.
Hate putting money in zuckerberg’s pocket.
Same with VR - you need a meta account to use the oculus.. and you get full screen notification inside the VR headset if you do not use that.. Luckily there is a trail going on in Norway now..

I just backed up my twtxt.txt data on a medium that will last for years if treated well: 4 sheets of paper.
@prologic@twtxt.net Perhaps we should add a meta flag to Twtxt to stop indexation by ChatGPT and consorts? I already use robots.txt for this.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de yeah, it worked fine when It installed from mirror :) I had same issue in virtualbox. I suspect its the same problem. But now I have it installed the way I like it, encrypted, and lxqt desktop on my laptop.
Reading the backlog of my twtxt posts and it’s nice to be able to just delete some outdated things by editing a simple txt file.
Upgraded my Twtxt feed to 2023 with the twtxt.net twthash extension.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Are the apps on F-Droid better?
@prologic@twtxt.net I’ve even added the twthash message hash to my Twtxt bash CLI script so I can properly answer here.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I checked the local police twitter, and they always post if it’s important stuff. And due to it’s location I’m sure other heard it as well when it happened. I’m thinking maybe it was a deer hit by a car or something that needed to be neutralized.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org they did not shoot the dog, some other animal.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org @movq@www.uninformativ.de Very good for mind and body!
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org @movq@www.uninformativ.de Oh, I had a experience this weekend as well, a dog was barking in the forest, sounded like something was wrong (it’s a fairly public area), I then continued my walk, and Nanook got more and more nervous, I then continued the walk, and Nanook froze. I could still hear the dog barking quite close. And then someone shot a rifle. I’m glad I did not walk up to where that dog was, I kinda wanted too, because I first thought maybe something was wrong. But it honestly weirded me out that they did this in such a place as they did, almost called the cops to be honest to check with them, but I did not at the time..

@eapl.me@eapl.me Hope you get well soon! :)
@movq@www.uninformativ.de @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Nice! Always nice to do a walk, and fun to test stuff like GPS and such :) I’ve been walking a bit as well today, but also had some nice time at home, I work a bit this weekend, so I’ve spent some time on that. But also we went to the mall and such. Now we’re baking pizza. And will watch a movie or something when the kids has gone to sleep tonight. :)
