Linus has released 6.16-rc1 and closed the
merge window for this release.

I think we had a fairly normal merge window, although I did get the
feeling that there were a few more “late straggler” pull requests
than usual. Not to a huge degree, but there was definitely an
upward bump at the end of the second week.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with and doing some deep learning and researching into neutral networks and evolutionary adaptation of them. The thing is I haven’t gotten very far. I’ve been able to build two different approaches so far with limited results. The frustrating part is that these things are so “random” it isn’t even funny. Everything still looks fairly normal - we’ve got a bit more commits
than we did in rc5, which isn’t the trend I want to see as the
release progresses, but the difference isn’t all that big and it
feels more like just the normal noise in timing fluctuation in pull
