wsl-vpnkit: Internet for WSL2 distros behind a VPN
I’m still alive. 👋 Today, at work, I discovered a nice little tool for WSL2. On my work laptop I need to use Cisco AnyConnect to connect to the corporate network. Unfortunately this blocks Internet access in Windows Subsystem for Linux VMs (at least in the Ubuntu VM, I tried to use for some Docker stuff). **2 days, 2 laptops to which a new life was given:

1st, an installation of Bodhi Linux on a 14yrs old machine. From unusable to usable - there are no miracles (web browsing is *soheavy nowadays!), but it works.

Then a 10yrs old laptop upgrading from Win8 to Ubuntu 22.04, fresh!**

@benk@kwiecien.us Ubuntu is being similarly mean to me. “Can’t upgrade X because Y depends on older version. Can’t update Y because there’s a dependency problem”. I’m pretty sure the dependency problem would be solved with an upgrade, but I can’t perform one…

Something in my main server, running Ubuntu 16.0.4 at Digital Ocean, broke the network for Docker. After a few hours of futzing around, editing configuration files and doing tests, bit the bullet and spun out a fresh Ubuntu-based Docker-ready droplet from the app Marketplace.

I fixed my now-year-long semi-intermittent sound problem, & the explanation is compellingly stupid: sometimes when ubuntu upgrades sound driver modules it doesn’t make the /dev/snd tree user-writable, & pulse runs as the logged-in user.

It seems like every time I reboot, Ubuntu manages to forget about another piece of hardware I have. First it was the USB controller, then the wifi (still not fixed), and now it’s my sound card.
