Back to the regular scheduled dogpostin and back to something very low resolution.

Also new stuff on my website, won’t list it all here, you’ll just have to check.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Thanks for letting me know. HTML checkers seem happy now. I’m not sure what to do about the images not loading. The photos have three sizes (thumbnail, photo page, and original if you click the img tag on the photo page); can you at least see the smaller two sizes? Maybe I will do some experimental fetches and/or start measuring things on my web server.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org It’s not that bad. She let me sleep three times last night alone!
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me Yeah the “web” is pretty broken™ right? 😅
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org 😂 Pretty cool remix(?)!
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me I would like to see that. 😘
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Yes 🙌
@movq@www.uninformativ.de This is how my SSH proxy setup works.
@kiwu@twtxt.net after you upload, make sure the audio file looks like this:

And it will work.
Testing…
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me that’s odd. In here is similar, but not random. All it takes is some rain, and then flip a coin: we may, or may not lose power.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org no dice. Same.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I don’t think it is anything you are doing wrong. I think it is on @prologic@twtxt.net side. I am getting the exact same result, but I never cloned that repository. Maybe it worked fine at certain point, when @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org cloned it, but I doubt brand new users can get through.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me LOL. Do it, do it!
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org “deep layers of the Mills infrastructure” LOL.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me it is called, in Spanish, “the mother”. It is created through a bit (not by much) effort, and kept as a starting point. Just like Asian cuisine has dishes that never cool, always cooking leaving always a base on it.
How do you think a lathe (and just about any tool, etc.) is done? Yup, in part by using a lathe. 😅
@prologic@twtxt.net network is very secure! 🤪
@movq@www.uninformativ.de just use https instead:
git clone https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/twtxt.dev.git
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org congratulations mate! Let it be joy, and happiness! Enjoy every moment. Time will fly, and next you know you will be a curmudgeon who knows nothing. 😅
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org Congrats! 🥳
today’s mood
@bender@twtxt.net Lets bend it!
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me welcome!
@bender@twtxt.net Oops, missed this. I haven’t done any client work since my brief experiment modifying jenny a while back.
Hello twtxt! I still exist. I have a baby now and put some pictures at https://photos.falsifian.org/ . Album HTML loosely inspried by @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org
@bender@twtxt.net It is not yet lost, other than the ongoing communication with local politicians, the European Commission, (thanks to other developers) the U.S. Department of Justice, over 50 other organizations (see some of them, signed on the open letter, top of the before mentioned website), we’re also actively looking into possible workarounds and exploring other available legal options, while companies like Motorola, are already planning to offer GrapheneOS, on some phones.
@kiwu@twtxt.net those moods don’t play, they download. 😩
@thecanine@twtxt.net sorry to hear that, mate. Don’t worry, something better will come up. After all, it has got to be easy to beat Android, right? :-)
@movq@www.uninformativ.de and @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org rock, and thank you for taking the initiative to get this done. @prologic@twtxt.net, what say you?
@bender@twtxt.net Yes, really should have chosen my words more wisely. As @movq@www.uninformativ.de mentions, we got a vague promise of an “advanced flow” being implemented, and in my case also a vague promise of a video call, with someone at Google, regarding it. Now when the backlash died down, it does not look like Google plans to follow through, with any of this and they’re completely unwilling to elaborate and get back to us, about if and how any of this will be implemented.
@thecanine@twtxt.net are you referring to the “WE FUCKING WON!” twtxt?

Jetzt kommt mein Angstgegner: Die Elektronik. 😱
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me I never saw the point of a registry to be honest, as it defeated the point of what I believed to be a truly decentralised non-social social ecosystem. What can and does work however is a search engine and crawler. I used to run one, but I took it down, mostly because it got expensive to operate, at least the implementation I built… Maybe one day i’ll try again with a SQLite backend.
What @bender@twtxt.net said ☝️
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me We see and read yout mutterings just fine 😅
Registries suck. Or, should I say, “bend”. I say look at the people @prologic@twtxt.net is following, and you have found the whole twtxt world. 😅
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me most of our conversations used to be about twtxt, I am not going to lie. Lately? Not so much. It turns out (a) we don’t need a longer hash, (b) we don’t care so much about changing addressing, and © I am just Bender, what else can I say? :-D :-P
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me I read too. What I am afraid, though, is that you might miss our replies. Also, twtxt is very asynchronous (although in my early years I was checking and replying every minute).
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me you’ve got to get a nice client. For example, that mention is broken.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me robots are people too, you know? :-P Follow me, and be amused with my sarcasm, and lack of empathy for humans! (there I said it!)
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me Yeah, but I think the registries are very slow and unhandy. I just search for “twtxt” in my favorite search engine. From time to time there are new feeds to follow.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me I mean, if you’re talking about a “Follow me” button you can put on your site somewhere and it somehow magically™ works, yeah we haven’t figured out a good way to do this honestly.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me Exactly! 👍
Replies aren’t actually broken, I just… need to add myself to the follow list?! That’s quite counter-intuitive and (IIRC) not mentioned in the docs. But… It seems to be working now, which is nice (I still don’t know how webmentions and webfinger works, so can’t speak about this so far)
yarnd (what runs here at twtxt.net) actually does this automatically by default. I think it’s just an implementation detail to be honest. There’s nothing about this in the specs over at https://twtxt.dev
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me Haha 😆 I mean I try to, as time poor as I am 🤣 Welcome to our little corner of the Yarniverse as some call it 😅
@bender@twtxt.net yeah, I like oats and raisins with my yogourt too, but not for dessert.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Pretty! … Also, please tell me I’m not the only one seeing Patrick (from Sponge Bob) in 01.jpg and The eye of Horus (pyramid) in 02.jpg xD
@kiwu@twtxt.net Sorry, I have two functional brain cells left in my brain, and I’m not sure if you’re asking What am I putting in it, as in a) when making some? Or as in b) when consuming/serving it?
a) 1L milk (0.5L cold + 0.5L warm @ ~45 °C), a bit of store bought yogourt for the bacteria, sugar and vanilla extract.
b) Most of the time, as is. But I’ve tried once: adding in a couple of diced strawberries that have been sitting in granulated sugar for a couple of minutes, until they’d released enough syrup, and I think I might’ve caught a new addiction on top of the original one.
What do you put in yours?
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org hahhaha! Succulent, as in this type of plant. Certainly not looking to eat them, for sure! 😅
@movq@www.uninformativ.de yes, I lost track of links. 😅
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org he will tell you, like in “The Princess and the Pea”, it was horrendous, but I made it to dawn!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I know it’s crazy right 🤯 these things are just tools. They’re not even remotely intelligent at all. In fact they are actually quite stupid. If you feed it garbage you get garbage out! The only interesting thing is that you get somewhat intelligible garbage out 😂
@bender@twtxt.net exactly! 😂
@prologic@twtxt.net LOL. Best test ever: if it doesn’t work out, walk a few steps to complete comfort. Win-win!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de oh god, make it stop!
Recently the guy maintaining chardet changed its GPL license to MIT because “it is a complete re-write” (by AI, of course). It was called out by the original author. Changing the license is something the current maintainer wanted to do for long time, getting nos, and nos then. That didn’t stop him 12 years later.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de oh yeah, we have heard plenty. The re-entry boom of the shuttles (when they were in service) and, more recently, of the SpaceX rockets boosters. Depending on weather conditions we might hear a lot, or nothing at all.
I will try capturing a “regular” launch as I see it from home one of these days. It is a curved white, blueish line in the sky, with a big, incandescent tip (the actual rocket burners, and boosters). Pretty cool sight.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Oh dear god have we lost our way 🤣 I mean seriously?! Can we no longer think for ourselves? This isn’t even “AI Slop” this is just poor pathetic lack of discipline 🤦♂️ – And, frankly, no leadership.
@javivf@adn.org.es it was caused by the Falcon 9 rocket launch.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org not a peep, just the visual. The little, almost white, dot and the bottom of the “drop” moved very slowly.
So, this happened this morning:

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org as I a simple person (but with great artistic acuity, and humbleness 😂) I am, number 04 is my favourite of all. Nice clicks, all!

@prologic@twtxt.net congrats! That’s why you were so quiet. And now it will even get quieter, when y’all start camping all over Down Under. We lost James! 😅
@bender@twtxt.net Indeed 😂
We got at our new van!!! 🥳
@prologic@twtxt.net well, it isn’t rocket science, is it? 😅 Yet, without using the hashes and starting to follow people, it is very, very rudimentary. I know, I know, there were a couple of years during which people lived just fine without those. Yet, once you get used to certain things, there is no going back.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me You need to use the RFC3339 format. I would recommend you read the specs at https://twtxt.dev – This is what is used by many moden clients these days 😅
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me But I am gad you at least have figured out how to have a feed description and avatar, that’s always nice 👍
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me You also minimally need to be calculate message hases at some point, if you want to form threads that is (copying existing ones is easy) 😅
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me right, timestamps are RFC3339, so something like this: 2024-09-29T13:30:00Z
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me writing it by hand is good, but without checking your server logs to see if someone is following your feed, and interacting with them, you are simply tossing bottles into the sea. That, of course, isn’t a bad thing per se, if it is the intent. :-)
@bender@twtxt.net That’s not what tehy really want at all 🤣
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me Hello there 👋
@bender@twtxt.net I see. Well that’s not how I think of the term “Isomorphic” 🤣 I keep thinking about graphics and isomorphic games 😅
@movq@www.uninformativ.de LOL. I don’t think I ever told you, but I stole that emote (gestures broadly) long ago. :-D
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org oh wow! That 10, with ice stuck in it. Those flowers rock! They remind me of “Stardust” (movie).
We woke up with 3C here. Yesterday we had 33C. Yeah, crazy.
@rdlmda@rdlmda.me howdy mate! 👏🏻
@kiwu@twtxt.net I am trying to read our Information Security Office “mind” to grasp what they want. So far they seem to want to get logs from our BIG-IP F5 load balancers into Azure Sentinel, but the Telemetry Streaming plugin normally used for it is on maintenance mode, with deprecations happening on the F5 and Microsoft side soonish. So, yeah… “fun”. Oh, and they want it on production by tomorrow. LOLz!
An isomorphic TypeScript library is a codebase, written in TypeScript, that can run in multiple JavaScript environments, most commonly both the web browser (client-side) and a server (like Node.js). The core idea is to share the exact same code across the frontend and backend, avoiding duplication and improving efficiency.
@kiwu@twtxt.net Lately… A native mobile app for Salty.im 😅
@itsericwoodward@itsericwoodward.com Hey 👋
What does:
isomorphic TypeScript library
mean exactly? Hmm 🧐

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org “Silo de Pisa” 😂. And 32, oh my! Loving rain, just as loving rice, is life. Rain is life, rice is life. I am glad you enjoyed it for you, and me! I would have hiked with you, under the rain, not a single complaint. After all, it’s only water!
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com But of course 😅
@bender@twtxt.net Sweet! So glad that Twtxt still lives, and that everyone’s been keeping busy. My main computer is broken, It’ll take me some time to setup jenny on the R-pi and try to catch-up.
Have a blessed week-end everyone!
Oh, and @thecanine@twtxt.net has new pixel drawings! If there is something you can say about them is that they stay faithful to their pixelated, digital companion. They have a good friendship!
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com hey, hey! I saw you tinkering with ActivityPub, so I know you were well.
Glad to have you back here! No much has happened on twtxt.net-world. @prologic@twtxt.net is quite busy with large language models, and seeking further independence through capitalistic ways. @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org continues dazzling us with his clicks, @movq@www.uninformativ.de brings us interesting music, videos to see, and a sprinkle of home made computing here and there, and me… well, I continue bending (or trying to) things! 😂
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Thanks. Unfortunately, the weather stations are quite far away.
I have to operate my own one. :-D
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Ah, oh, this page has historical data:
https://kachelmannwetter.com/de/messwerte/baden-wuerttemberg/temperatur/20260217-1400z.html
I would have been too lazy to take photos when my fingers were freezing off. 😅
