Awful 33°C today. But I had to move, no matter what. So, I went outside. At first, the sun was out a bit. It was brutal. Later it vanished behind the clouds. But the humidity was still through the roof.
I watched the corn harvest I came across. Dusty as hell, but it was great fun observe the machineries work.
Going up my backyard mountain, there weren’t many people around. I was pleasantly surprised. However, the smaller hill below was rather crowded. Many people with picnic mats, enjoying their dinner, painting A3 love letters, claiming all available benches, taking wedding photos, walking their dogs, etc.
The public barbecue site at the summit is still closed due to the ongoing fire hazard. I found it rather funny to see a fire extinguisher ready to go next to it. The bread and cake smell disclosed that the Mountain Baking Boys were active. The large oven right next to the BBQ was still going strong.
@david@daiwei.me Hahaha! The thing is, it doesn’t taste as good in summer as in winter for some unknown reason. Two or three decades ago I asked my grandma to bake some of her amazing gingerbread in summer. But she always refused, claiming that this only really works in winter. Of course, I didn’t believe that. Finally, after years of begging and pleading, she finally made a tray. And to my surprise, she was right. It wasn’t bad, no, no, not at all. It was really yummy. But the gingerbread in winter was just better. :-/
Maybe I should give it a shot myself. Perhaps she slightly changed the recipe on purpose. So that I will never break the tradition of seasonal food again. :-P It worked, at least I never asked her to bake gingerbread in summer again. :-D
@david@daiwei.me Right now, tt’s theme is baked into the binary. I have to edit the ui/styles.go and recompile. Luckily, this almost takes no time. But my todo list already includes a bullet point to make this customizable via the configuration file. :-)

The WM_CLASS Property is used on X11 to assign rules to certain windows, e.g. “this is a GIMP window, it should appear on workspace number 16.” It consists of two fields, name and class.
Wayland (or rather, the XDG shell protocol – core Wayland knows nothing about this) only has a single field called app_id.
When you run X11 programs under Wayland, you use XWayland, which is baked into most compositors. Then you have to deal with all three fields.
Some compositors map name to app_id, others map class to app_id, and even others directly expose the original name and class.
Apparently, there is no consensus.

Today’s stroll was really nice. Just around 11km in total I’d reckon. We had a barbie at a mate’s garden where everybody went on a hunt for an easter basket. Oh boy, what a preparation that must have been! Baking the bunnies, dying the eggs, mixing the bear leek butter and so on. That’s dedication, let me tell you. :-)
It was the first time this year that we had half proper April weather and a thunderstorm in general. It started off with clear sky and lovely sunshine. Right after arvo lunch it started to rain, so we went into the hut. Then, the sun returned.
On the way back with the growling thunder in the distance coming closer and closer we escaped the rain just perfectly. A minute or two after we reached the car, wet stuff started coming down the sky. Not even half a minute after opening the front door, it poured like crazy. Lucky twice today. There’s beautiful sunshine again by now. It smells absolutely great after the rain. I love it!

Always nice to do a walk, and fun to test stuff like GPS and such :) I’ve been walking a bit as well today, but also had some nice time at home, I work a bit this weekend, so I’ve spent some time on that. But also we went to the mall and such. Now we’re baking pizza. And will watch a movie or something when the kids has gone to sleep tonight. :)
Back home again, had a really nice time today, was about a 6hr drive (3hrs each way), so it’s good to be back home. Was really nice to see grandma today (and the other family members that where there). Now we’re baking pizza! Time to relax :)
