Chances are the database bought wasn’t cheap at all and was aold by some scam company that probably ripped them from six figures or more for a database that’s full of rubbish. đŸ€Ł

RIP Android:

https://9to5google.com/2025/08/25/android-apps-developer-verification/

Since nobody is going to push back on this (I don’t even know if that would be possible), this is going to be a reality on every platform sooner or later.

I’d guess in 20, 30 years, there won’t be “PCs” anymore. No more home computing, no more “I just write my own software”. You won’t own devices anymore, it’ll all be rented and the landlord will tell you what you can do with it.

I hope that I’m wrong, but given where we are today, I don’t think that I will be.

Dave TĂ€ht RIP

From the LibreQoS site comes the sad\‹news that Dave TĂ€ht has passed away. Among many other things, he bears
a lot of credit for our networks functioning as well as they do. “We’re

i recorded my first camcorder video!!!! it’s just me practicing guitar after sooo long of not playing it. my acoustic, to be specific (well, it’s an electric acoustic thing but i can play it without plugging it in lol, i do have a stratocaster though). it’s capped at ~30 minutes because i used one mini DVD for it and decided i wasn’t gonna use another one to extend the run time. so yeah. it was super fun! i hope i can share it soon, i’m ripping the disc with make MKV right now, then i’ll re-encode to a web friendly format, and upload to my site and hope that works well

In-reply-to » I'm looking to develop a static site for twtxt.dev -- A domain I own and have wanted to use for developer and specification docs for Twtxt.

@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt Thanks! I’ve almost come up with my own theme already đŸ€Ł I actually don’t really want to use Hugo at all, I find it too complicated. But it is pretty popular so I thought maybe I’d rip-off a nice theme
 Hmmm 🧐

Anyway, What I really normally use for a lot of my static sites is zs

In-reply-to » Hmm when I said "Wireguard is kind of cool" in this twt now I'm not so sure 😱 I can't get "stable tunnels" to freak'n stay up, survive reboots, survive random disconnections, etc. This is nuts đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž

@prologic@twtxt.net I find the L2 mode where you have one interface and multiple hosts to be tricky. Its best if you are trying to make a full mesh style. But then all hosts need to be able to see one another.

I have had more success using point-to-point connections where there are only two ends to each interface. It means you have a ton of interfaces and udp ports. but you can share the host IP across the interfaces. Add to that a simple router proto ala OSPF or RIP and you can navigate around not having a full meshnet.

I have dozens of localnet wireguard connections and many more connections to others that use bgp for route propagation.

I guess Google Hangouts is finally dead.

Why is Google such a mess at making messaging apps? This has more or less been a solved problem for decades. Google Talk worked well enough, and since it was based on XMPP and Jingle it was perfectly suited to become a large-scale text/voice/video messaging system. If they’d run with that they’d have been able to dominate that space, I think. Instead, they’ve created and shitcanned half a dozen messaging apps and platforms, flailing around copying someone else’s app (now they’re trying to copy Slack I guess).
