@justamoment@twtxt.net That’s how it behaves now hmmm 🤔 But there are some good points here. @ullarah@txt.quisquiliae.com let’s see if we can make some improvements here when you’re done with the other WIP PR(s) 👌
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I finally got to watching these time lapsed of your window and man that’s really impressive. Makes me want to find some time to do cool shit like this 😎 Very well done! 👏 More please! Bigger and better 😅
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net What can you tell me about this? What did you spin up? Can you link me? What’s your experience so far? 🤔
it really makes you wonder about Peter Dutton and the Australian Liberal party. It really does. Hmmmm 🤔
The trick is making this work gracefully so that if you don’t have Javascript enabled, it still works, even if a bit of a degraded UX. The UI/UX of the yarnd
Web Interface is designed to be an SSR (Server-Side Rendered) UI with very small use of Javascript with graceful degradation.
@technicalsuwako@netbros.com Yeah so if you use the “Post Box” at the top, that will create a brand new post. Correct.
If you use “Reply” it will place the Post Box below the Twt you’re replying to (if you have Javascript enabled), “Fork” will for the current Conversation/Thread (we call a Yarn) into a new one.
I’m not sure how else to make this better except to see if @ullarah@txt.quisquiliae.com can do something about hiding the Pos Box at the top behind some kind of HTML section with some CSS and JS. Ideally it would not be visible at all unless you clicked on a button of some kind…
@mutefall@twtxt.net Well said mate 👌 I couldn’t agree more!
@mutefall@twtxt.net @movq@www.uninformativ.de I’ve also bookmarked this 😅 Very interesting points of view 😂 I don’t have any counter-hypothesis myself, something about me tends not to dwell on the past too much, I remember enough of it to know which neurons to kill with fire 🤣
⨁ Follow
button on their profile page or use the Follow form and enter a Twtxt URL. You may also find other feeds of interest via Feeds. Welcome! 🤗
@rrraksamam@twtxt.net Hey! That was the automated bot 😂 Welcome to my pod 🤗
Okay g’night folks 😴
@justamoment@twtxt.net That’s precisely what we’re doing with Yarn.social – Make it hard to abuse, make it hard to profit off, make it hard to block, make it hard to censor.
I strongly believe in openness and transparency when it comes to social media and we try to make things behave as they would analogously as if you were sitting around a campfire or Yarning circle (look it up!) and having a conversation (a Yarn :D)
The most important thing though, is to ensure we have good documentation and specifications. yarnd
is just (now) one of many clients. 👌
@justamoment@twtxt.net Mesium and Reddit too 😆
A Molotov cocktail is a breakable glass bottle containing a flammable substance such as petrol, alcohol, or a napalm-like mixture, with some motor oil added, …
It’s as I suspected. When I said “some kind of crude” bomb, I was right 😅 That’s exactly what it is!
@david@netbros.com I’ll have a read now (that I’m back home!); I honestly have no clue what a “Molotov cocktail” is 😂
@novaburst@twt.nfld.uk Yes that’s right, whilst Twitter™ continue to allow anonymous scraping of Twtter™ feeds, this will continue to be possible.
It would be better though if those Twitter™ feeds decided to jump ship off of the privacy eroding, manipulative garbage that is Twtter™ and come join Yarn.social instead, potentially running their own Pod 🤗
I forgot to share this when we stayed at this kind of nice Motel for two days waiting until roads reopened to get back to Brisbane
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Was it a storm that caused this? 🤔
README
is that zs
are not the original author's initials https://github.com/imdario, so who's initials are zs
?
@adi@twtxt.net Why are you so obsessed with the name of zs
?
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net I’m telling you 🤣 You need only check one thing 🤣 Yarn 😆 Yhere’s no shitty algorithms at play to abuse your human psychologist traits to keep coming back and see more shit you did it see before because Yarn.social respects your time, energy and you! 🤗
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net I’m just not sure what it even is? 🤔 Surely no-one drinks that shit?! 😳
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net What is this anyway? Some kind of crude bomb? 🤔
@mutefall@twtxt.net likewise 👌
I think I’m gonna have to head to bed now, I’m getting a bit too tired 🥱 😴
Here you go

@mutefall@twtxt.net Damn, I can setup a Google Meet if you like? PeerCalls doesn’t work with everyone :/ sadly :/
Reminder to all for the Yarn.social video conf:
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com Oh that’s cool! 👌 What are you doing there, paving with “fake grass” tiles? 🤔
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com If you run your Pod as a Docker Container, the prologic/yarnd:latest Image follows the main
branch.
I’ll start this 1/2hr early.
Anyone is welcome to join! I’ll see if I can run this for ~3hrs or so before I go to bed 😅
Let’s chat!
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net Well I think they should also 😆
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net Very cool! 😎 On a side note though… Man oh man, all these Russian billionaire oligarchs and assholes (Putn) all look like grumpy old men who have seen better days. 🤦♂️ Maybe instead of worrying about their precious and dead Soviet Union, they could give away 99% of their Billions to help the poor, starving, drought and famine stricken, people in need, disasters, and generally making the world a better place? 🤔 A little birdie told me that “helping others” makes you feel good 🤗
Which @justamoment@twtxt.net I apologise, wasn’t visible in the search service because yarns
doesn’t currently crawl feeds over Gemini at the moment… I shold fix that this weekend 👌
@justamoment@twtxt.net Here you go apex has been working on an Android client cc @apex@rawtext.club 👈 You may have a potential user 😅
@justamoment@twtxt.net Hahaha 😂
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com Up yo you really 😂 If you like to live on the edge. Run main
🤣 Otherwise wait for new release ☺️ We try really hard to make sure we don’t break compatibility 🤞
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com I usually run it for several hours don’t worry 🤗
@justamoment@twtxt.net I’ll find it for you in a min 👌
@justamoment@twtxt.net Ooops sorry about that 😆 Mistakes happen I’m only human 🤣
👋 Yarn.social Video conf today.
- Start Time: 12:00PM UTC / 10:00PM AEST (Australia/Brisbane)
=> https://meet.mills.io/call/Yarn.social
See some of you there 🤗. cc @darch@twtxt.net @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org @movq@www.uninformativ.de @david@netbros.com @ullarah@txt.quisquiliae.com (if you can join?) @mutefall@twtxt.net
Maybe no-one noticed 😂 /me hides 🏃
Ooops I accidently pushed the wrong Docker Image for prologic/yarnd and crashed my running Pod here twtxt.net – Sorry about that folks 😅
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com Gonna play table-tennis in a few hours (hopefully) then later this evening will have a Yarn.social video conf since there seems to be some interested parties 😅
@mutefall@twtxt.net Oh! Yes please! I’d like to take a look at that 👌 Did you also manage to get Let’s Encrypt working in your cluster in some sane way? 🤔
@mutefall@twtxt.net That reminds me… I did promise you some Swarm stacks… I’ll try to get those into swarm-stacks 👌
@mutefall@twtxt.net I prefer Peer Calls myself ,and I normally regularly hold a Yarn.social video conf (anyone is welcome!) late at night (AEST) on Saturdays. I normally post the link on Yarn.social of course hours ahead of time (because Yarn.social is by design slow 😅)
The Subtle Art of Saying No - Golde, Ittai, Nakagawa, Eric | 9781973166948 | Amazon.com.au | Books
This is a book written by my former manager at Facebook™ where I worked once upon a time (it’s no secret 😅), great book! Highly recommend! 👌 😂
@mckinley@twtxt.net Honestly, I appreciate your offer, but I’ve given up on this. I’ve spent ~2hrs on this already looking at ejabberd, got it running and got Beagle-IM to connect to it. Then realised how fucking hard it’s going to be to configure ejabberd properly in production. I’ve looked into Prosody which @jan6@twtxt.net on IRC also mentioned, but getting that working properly in my infra is also going to be “too hard”. They “claim” to support Let’s Encrypt certificates for example, but expect you to run certbert
on a server somewhere 🤦♂️ – I give up 😢
admittedly ejabberd’s Docker image actually looks pretty simple to use and operate (https://hub.docker.com/r/ejabberd/ecs) – I might try this 🤔
@mckinley@twtxt.net Uggh I remember this (BOST) back in the ‘ol days when XMPP was “cool” 😅 /me sigh – It’s still all too complicated.
