@prologic@twtxt.net well I don’t have that much storage, anyway
it was a fun time that eventually came to an end
and poof, nuked it
guess I’ll be getting back here then, the situation ran out of control
now I gotta somehow clean up
LOL my /usr/local partition got full, guess what ate it all, yarnd
PSA: I’m moving to @akoizumi@kyoko.nerdpol.ovh
@retrocrash@twtxt.net i’m still on quietplace.xyz, but I don’t care anymore
@prologic@twtxt.net he kind of beat me to it, but he’s totally right
@prologic@twtxt.net
At first I hoped that such a technically unsound project would collapse but I soon realized it was doomed to success. Almost anything in software can be implemented, sold, and even used given enough determination. There is nothing a mere scientist can say that will stand against the flood of a hundred million dollars. But there is one quality that cannot be purchased in this way -and that is reliability. The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay. — C.A.R. Hoare
@prologic@twtxt.net nah, that was built from source without even caring about the dependencies on OpenBSD
@prologic@twtxt.net is SMTP strictly necessary to run a pod? sometimes sign-ups don’t quite work when it’s disabled, recalling from my earlier experience at hashbang
I’d just… avoid getting a phone, but that’s too unrealistical for anyone, but not for me
@movq@www.uninformativ.de holy crap i remember having seen that
@prologic@twtxt.net activitypub though….
@prologic@twtxt.net tbh I don’t see the point of this, flat files served me well
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Murdock
From November 2015 until his death Murdock was working for Docker, Inc.[9]
lol?
@prologic@twtxt.net I would, assuming I can get it to boot on the hypervisor
@prologic@twtxt.net US’s independence day, which no sane person cares about lol
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net Go’s error handling is “Ugh” to say the least
for something like this though, it’s overengineering
@prologic@twtxt.net basically, code in one language, and make wrappers (sort of what he did) to said code in Java/Kotlin (Android) and Swift (iOS)
as for desktop…. I think the Web UI is enough, it isn’t bad
@prologic@twtxt.net
(translation from Spanish)
twtxt has a good variety of clients, while yarn.social has 3 (essentially this web UI and Goryon, which is available for Android, and yarnc, which itself is located in the same repository of yarnd)
I’d personally recommend https://github.com/mdom/txtnish instead of the “official” client because it has less dependencies, at least.

https://git.skyjake.fi/gemini/lagrange (gemini://skyjake.fi)
@prologic@twtxt.net @ocdtrekkie@twtxt.net I wonder if something like the main dev of Lagrange did would work…
@prologic@twtxt.net skarnet’s mdevd
is a thing, can recommend it 100%
http://skarnet.org/software/mdevd/
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org me either, i’m anyways asleep at that time lol
@prologic@twtxt.net or just yarn ball, it’s more or less the same ;P
This fossil of a website is actually still alive!
pun intended
@news@twtxt.net @prologic@twtxt.net mind starting a poll for the new name? ;P
Less configuration options prevent you from fiddling around with the system.
Honestly, that’s exactly what annoys me from those systems. I’ve learnt that the hard way
and well, it was discontinued because no one actually likes programming for mobile devices, period.
@thecanine@twtxt.net goryon is still a thing anyway. at least it works for me the only time I’ve ever used it
Mission accomplished!
Trying to fix TLS on novaburst.de1.hashbang.sh right now
