Glad I got my test server that I can play around with. Been messing with docker today, and got nextcloud all set up the way I want, so now I can do the same on my VPS. Getting the hang of this now.

@prologic@twtxt.net Me too! I really wanted to do some winter camping this year, but I have not been motivated enough to pack up and go when the weekend comes - but one day soon I will head out and do that :)

Today Ill get it installed with latest alma linux, set up the things I want with docker (I usually do not use docker I just do not like it), but I see how useful it can be, so Im going to force my self to use it. Then when all services are running Ill use wireguard to hook it up to my VPS. I think this will be a great setup.

@prologic@twtxt.net that is very true.

In-reply-to » do anyone know anything about wireguard? I have a VPS, which runs nginx. If I then want tjat to host something from my house, do I then set up vps as wiregiard server, connect from my house to it - and then serve the wireguard client? or do it the other way around? I think I have to look into it this weekend. would be a nice way to test out things.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de @prologic@twtxt.net ah good point. Ill keep this in mind.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de ok, good to know. Yeah I have static. But after thinking about it I’ll most likely set up the server side at home, that way I can more easily connect to other things at home from remote.

In-reply-to » Finally back! My VPS's main drive got toasted. I got a freshly installed VPS now, got yarn set up and working now, now I have to fix the rest of the stuff. I've been using apache for many many years, but I had so many issues getting it set up today, so I switched to nginx, and that took me like 2 minutes.. So yeah - I'll use nginx from now on.

@movq@uninformativ.de Glad you did not do that :) But took some time to get everything back up. But seems to run very well now.

Did not want to start my day with a hike today, so I borrowed my daughter’s kickbike and let the dog pull me for some kilometres. He did better today then ever before. He hit his top speed and just kept going.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org when I take him to work I walk him at the parkinglot when I need a break. and on my way home I walk a km or two, and then around the neighbourhood as needed later. But when I go for long walks during the weekend I can walk anywhere from 10km to 20, then the rest is as needed around the house. so he’s well adjusted to short walks as well as long. today he pulled our kids on snow sleds on the street outside here, was really fun :) it was his first time trying that, and I could barely keep up with him. haha.

Well, people should be able to talk, even if it’s the ‘wrong’ topic.
I think the whole ‘covid disinformation’ policy at twitter and others (spotify) is ridiculous.
A banner that pops up telling you to go ‘here’ for latest info is crazy.
People die from all kinds of things, covid is no exception from that, but no other virus has been put on display like this one. And also not even being able to discuss things around it (except for the cemented truth) is not something I like. I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything like that - but I love discussing things, and when you cannot even do that - then I have a issue with it. So many people got banned for simply discussing or trying to discuss issues around it.

Brought our dog to work today, so nice to have one that handles the cold without any issues. He just chills in his crate in the car while I work, and I take some small breaks to let him stretch his legs. Loves to play around in the snow. I could then take the ‘long’ walk on my way home instead of getting home first - then head out again.

@darch@neotxt.dk yeah, all my computers and devices are on 24/7. but I’ll install it on my webserver (vps) as well, and let that one be the master device. my desktop is backed up to spideroak at all times, so when I sync there it backs things up. Im not too worried about the issue if something causes a conflict. There is only one file that worries me, and that is my keepass file. I might keep that elsewhere to be sure, I have not decided yet.

In-reply-to » @jlj @xuu hello! @prologic and I were chatting about the question of globally deleting twts from the yarn.social network. @prologic noted that he could build the tools and endpoints to delete twts, but some amount of cooperation from pod operators would be necessary to make it all work together. He asked me to spawn a discussion of the subject here, so here we are!

@prologic@twtxt.net something similar was done on diaspora some time back. A user posted a lot of things that the community did not want, so all pod admins ran a script to get rid of the user/posts.
