./yarnc debug <your feed url>:
@prologic@twtxt.net that’s not what I see. The hash znf6csa cannot be found.
Hahahaha! It is, doesnm is unmentionable!
@@example.com where the first
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz I think it happens if you don’t follow them. Replies used to be broken if so, but not sure if @prologic@twtxt.net ever fixed that. I used not to follow him, so that he would see the broken mentions, and feel shame (he didn’t, he is shameless! LOL), but ever since the re-creation of my account I just decided to follow, so I don’t know if the issue is fixed or not.
I know mentioning @xuu@txt.sour.isdoesnm.p.psf.lt was broken too. Maybe still is? We’ll see.
Adding to this, we already tried. It didn’t go too well. Slightly related—because it is a third party “integration”—I might be a “smaller group” member, but I don’t care much about one-way feeds (mostly RSS from blogs, news articles, etc.) either.
I am not interested at all. If I want to interact/socialise/whatever on the Fediverse (which I do), I simply use it. I would like to keep twtxt separate.
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz you will dazzle that therapist, regardless. You got this! And to Lucy, “oh hai!” :-)
@prologic@twtxt.net, from IRC:
- Saving preferences is failing. Specifically trying to save “Open Links” on the same window. For sure it isn’t happening. Check errors on browser’s console.
- Search results pagination is broken. Search for “twtxt.net” and see it. Also, picking oldest/newest makes no difference on that search query.
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz I am sure @prologic@twtxt.net would not mind sending an invite. Ping him!
@prologic@twtxt.net let’s all go to Australia! We crash on prologic’s house; got enough inflatable mattresses, mate? 😅
@prologic@twtxt.net remember to fix this. Where did “xuu” come from? :-D
@prologic@twtxt.net I did, and it did. I am more than rubbish at CSS, so there!
@prologic@twtxt.net is that a rhetorical question? :-D
It’s on yarn.min.css, whatever that comes from. I think padding: 0; is all it needs.
@prologic@twtxt.net there is a space on the first line on that codeblock. I think this one is the culprit:
pre>code {
padding:0 .25rem;
}
@prologic@twtxt.net I can live without highlights. Actually, I prefer not to have them. A good search is all I want.
@prologic@twtxt.net pretty neat, search actually works now!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de having a similar one here, and it is only 11:41. Ugh!
@prologic@twtxt.netdoesnm.p.psf.lt@doesnm.p.psf.lt 😂😂😂
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz call her Gata. 😂
@prologic@twtxt.net yup yup. Much work to be done, so little time. 😩
@movq@www.uninformativ.de one less dead account! 😅
Hey, hey, I am back. I lost all my worthless twtxts, but at least I still have the blackjack and hookers!
Hmmm, I am seeing lots of feeds I never saw before. One of the perks of the new backend?
I got some assembly for you: https://images.gatesnotes.com/12514eb8-7b51-008e-41a9-512542cf683b/34d561c8-cf5c-4e69-af47-3782ea11482e/Original-Microsoft-Source-Code.pdf
@prologic@twtxt.net you mean, “I’ll ix this oon 😂” ™
@prologic@twtxt.net Gemini has an answer for you:
This is a conversation thread from a twtxt network, detailing a user’s (movq) frustration with the Mastodon “export data” feature and their consideration of self-hosting a fediverse alternative. Here’s a summary:
- movq’s initial issue:
- movq is concerned about the volatility of their data on their current Mastodon instance due to a broken “export data” feature.
- They contacted the admins, but the issue remains unresolved.
- This led them to contemplate self-hosting.
- movq is concerned about the volatility of their data on their current Mastodon instance due to a broken “export data” feature.
- Alternative fediverse software suggestions:
- kat suggests gotosocial as a lightweight alternative to Mastodon.
- movq agrees, and also mentions snac as a potential option.
- kat suggests gotosocial as a lightweight alternative to Mastodon.
- movq’s change of heart:
- movq ultimately decides that self-hosting any fediverse software, besides twtxt, is too much effort.
- movq ultimately decides that self-hosting any fediverse software, besides twtxt, is too much effort.
- Resolution and compromise:
- The Mastodon admins attribute the export failure to the size of movq’s account.
- movq decides to set their Mastodon account to auto-delete posts after approximately 180 days to manage data size.
- Movq also mentions that they use auto-expiring links on twtxt to reduce data storage.
- The Mastodon admins attribute the export failure to the size of movq’s account.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org deeply honored to be used as an example, when illustrating things that will break! :-D <3
() @movq@www.uninformativ.de / @ well, I was wrong. It doesn’t merit congratulations. Boy, that 2032 asteroid is starting to look quite appealing…
I heard that congratulations to Germany are in order, is that right? If so, congratulations!
So, are we muting/blocking the “DMers”? I am starting a list, and I am checking it twice.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org call the @ call the @yarn_police@twtxt.net! 😂
Yes, you did something quite weird with yours.
@andros@twtxt.andros.dev it seems your GtS has issues:
Warning! It looks like trusted-proxies is not set correctly in this instance’s configuration. This may cause rate-limiting issues and, by extension, federation issues.
If you are the instance admin, you should fix this by adding 10.66.66.1/32 to your trusted-proxies.
@twtxt.net@twtxt.net right. I don’t follow you. I will restart following you once Yarn has fixed this problem. :-P
@twtxt.net@twtxt.net Octal 31 = Decimal 25
Break[ing] it!
twtxt.txt, following your recommendation, there could be many "twtxt" nicks. 😀
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt the logic that keeps on growing! :-D
example.com/x/bananas/yo.txt, and the feed has no nick. What is the nick?
I mean, since most feeds are named twtxt.txt, following your recommendation, there could be many “twtxt” nicks. 😀
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt I see problems with that, that do not exist on my approach. You could see, example.com/x/bananas/yo.txt, and the feed has no nick. What is the nick?
Or using the same twt hash method, but only for the URL, to generate the nick, if it doesn’t exist, like so, @5vxo4ia@twtxt.net
Wow, GtS keeps getting better! Re: https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/admin/domain_permission_subscriptions/#fun-stuff-to-do-with-domain-permission-subscriptions
“we are invading the humble twtxt/yarn network”
LOL. @prologic@twtxt.net loves it. He wants it to grow a little. He told me. More than once!
@rrraksamam@twtxt.net LOL. Crypto rubbish backed? 🤦♂️
@prologic@twtxt.net “therealprologic”? Really? 🤦♂️😅
Grocery shopping in the day of Christmas Eve is nuts, and wife is dragging me through it. 😩
@prologic@twtxt.net, do you use zsh on macOS, or do you change it to, say, bash?
@prologic@twtxt.net how does one signs up? I am sure you haven’t advertised the service yet, right?
Grab this one and enhance it, @prologic@twtxt.net?
@prologic@twtxt.net to interact with locally running LLM, which software are you using? LM Studio, or Ollama, or…?
I don’t think calling the various PHP files making up “Timeline” a “Yarn pod” is accurate.
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com icons at the top are badly organised while on mobile. About the speed, that’s using a shoddy PHP code, it would be slow even when running in a quantum computer. :’-D
@xuu@txt.sour.is 12345?
@prologic@twtxt.net yes, web content indeed is/has become. I will say a little bit of both. Trying my best not to lose faith in humanity. :‘-/
@prologic@twtxt.net I recommend its Wikipedia entry is edited then, if you are completely certain.
“Bluesky is a decentralized microblogging social media service primarily operated by Bluesky Social, PBC.”
That I know of, you can run the PDS, and pretty much everything else.
I have noticed that Yarn (here) will not take some emoji. At least, will not take some under iOS.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt right, jenny isn’t the problem, it’s your platform of choice. The fetching of archives doesn’t happen all time (once only, right @movq?), but yes, depending on the amount of feeds you follow that first time might take a while.
How, this is some funny easter egg: https://git.savannah.nongnu.org/cgit/man-db.git/commit/src/man.c?id=002a6339b1fe8f83f4808022a17e1aa379756d99
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt am I understanding correctly that you do not have a desktop/laptop computer, but a pocket Android based one?
(#bqor23a). Its the same one. My pod doesn't have the Root Twt: https://twtxt.net/twt/bqor23a => 404 Not Found.
Oh, and I think I said this before, but just in case, fuck Gemini. Hell, fuck Gopher too. Bring on telnet, and UCCP. 😈
@anth@a.9srv.net you wrote:
“Edits and Deletions should go; see also Section 6. This is probably the worst example of this document pushing a text document to do more protocol-like things.”
Edit and deletions are precisely what brought us here. Currently, if one replies to a twtxt, and the original gets later edited, it breaks replies, and potentially drastically changes context.
@sorenpeter@darch.dk not even this: https://twtxt.net/media/AzUmzTN5YEJdt4VPeeprjB.png?full=1
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com this is my change on main.go (but it can be done on a template now, so no reason to touch the code):
<time class="dt-published" datetime="{{ $twt.Created | date "2006-01-02T15:04:05Z07:00" }}">
{{ $twt.Created | date "2006-01-02 15:04:05 MST" }}
</time>
See https://ferengi.one. I am going to further customise things, but that’s a start.
Serious open (for anyone) question: what makes you follow someone on twtxt? Will you just follow anyone that you come across, simply because that someone using the “decentralised, minimalist microblogging service for hackers” microblog?
neomutt. I have now edited this one. Let's go!
OK. @quark@ferengi.one did not see this update, but should see this reply now, as broken.
Testing this. I will break this thread purposely, to see how to handle it under neomutt.

Because I saw the nick on movq (@prologic@twtxt.net, can’t mention anyone outside this pod, by the way), I looked the user up: https://tilde.pt/~marado/twtxt.txt. I wonder if the “hashes” they are using will work out of the box with jenny.
Talking about jenny, going to play with the latest now. Tata! :-)
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org so, is it safe to assume you occasionally, but carefully, vet your feeds, and have contingencies in place to not keep requesting a seemingly dead feed over and over?
@prologic@twtxt.net, does this rings a bell to you? 159-196-9-199.9fc409.mel.nbn.aussiebb.net
Came across YTCH yesterday, and it is very addictive. Simple, and well done. You can host it yourself if you want. The trick I haven’t figure out yet is how to create the list.json that drives it.
@eldersnake@we.loveprivacy.club how big is that VPS, if you can tell? My 1 vCPU, 2GB, 50GB is maxed out. 😬
Congratulations to the British for getting rid of the Tories tyranny, and electing the forward thinking Labour party! 🥳
There is, also, a small controversy going around for something that should have been a small change, but that Kling (SerenityOS, and Ladybird creator) handled quite badly: https://github.com/SerenityOS/serenity/pull/6814.
Seemingly small things like this divide, and have the potential to harm a project.
@eldersnake@we.loveprivacy.club how many browsers are out there, that use a unique “engine”? There seems to be quite a few: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_browser_engines. Sure, another one won’t hurt. Would I use it? Probably not. 😅
I didn’t know this was a thing. Well, local home improvement store believes so.

I just typed something that took me a while to enter, hit post, and lost everything because I was logged out. Can that be disabled? Let me be logged in for as long as I want (or for a very long time), unless I hit logout, or account for the previously entered text, and present it (or run the post action), after having to re-login?
Maybe increase the amount of text we can type on twtxts? I am running out of space! :-)
I keep muting accounts here (twtxt.net), and they keep popping back on after some time. It is nuts. :-(
I am still trying it, but I have to say—so far—nostr is a royal, and absolute, mess. As expected crypto bros everywhere, but also porn, all scams you can imagine, and more.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org flawed is the right word, no harsh at all. Good reading, and thanks for supporting the possibility of convincing @prologic@twtxt.net to switch to a database! :-D :-P
Yes, but no. This didn’t happen before, it will drive me nuts. That search sucks, by the way. I know, I am being gentle. 😂
@prologic@twtxt.net I am not seeing some of my previous interactions. This one is an example: https://twtxt.net/conv/svvpd3a
