Grok’s “daddy” teaching it the good stuff early on:

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok has been repeatedly mentioning “white genocide” in South Africa in its responses to unrelated topics and telling users it was “instructed by my creators” to accept the genocide “as real and racially motivated”.

@prologic@twtxt.net right. I wonder what prompted the measure. Perhaps Microsoft doesn’t want any scrapper but Copilot to be lurking around? That might even sound as anti-competitive. I wonder how long will it take for lawsuits to kick in.

@prologic@twtxt.net that will not be a problem; as long as it doesn’t affect authenticated users it wouldn’t make a difference. But we are comparing apples and eggs here. I don’t access GitHub while unauthenticated, but I can see how others might. It comes across as anti-web in general.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de, “60 requests per hour”, eh? Was that a thing (that is, unauthenticated access to GitHub)?! I know I am on the minority, perhaps, as I rarely (or never) access GitHub unauthenticated.

That should minimise the need for muting all those awkward feeds, I figure. :-D Sounds good!

In-reply-to » (#22qxisq) @andros Thanks for consolidating a lot of good ideas. Especially how you have deiced to just extend the mention syntax for location-based treads. This might even be backward compatible with older (pre-yarn) clients. What about using Z for UTC +00:00- is that allowed in your specs? Regarding url = I would suggest to only allow one and the maybe add url_old = or url_alt = !? I'm still not a fan of a DM feature, even thou it helps that i have now been split out into a separate feed file. Instead if would suggest a contact = field for where people can put an email or other id/link for an established chat protocol like signal or matrix.

In other words, why didn’t you all do the same that @movq@www.uninformativ.de did, and setup a completely different feed for this?

Why are we testing, or playing with, an alternate non-fully-compatible feed format within the same feed that we use daily?

In case you're curious, I do this style of development called "Observability Driven Development" (ODD) whereby I make observations of the system via metrics and internal observations and adjust the system's overall behavior to the desired outcome 😅

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org there are times that it works out to reply to the “flat” conversation, if it fully relates, or the participants are few, or if the strict topic is kept. When there are too many people, or too many topics being spit out, then forking constantly is the way to go. I am a strong proponent of forking. It’s like telling the rest, “you debate that there, I will take this one aside”.

@prologic@twtxt.net hahahahaha! No, no, no. Every word has its use. But for things like these I like certain reactions. For example, I would have given a “thumbs down” to the original twtxt, and done with it. Now, composing a reply, to simply say “no, thank you.”, that I don’t like. It seems a waste of space, and it doesn’t “look good”. I like to see at least 140 characters! Ha!

Chances of a 50% collision with 64 bits / 12 characters is roughly ~12.44B Twts. In-reply-to » And speaking of Twtxt (See: #xushlda, feeds should be treated as append-only. Your client(s) should be appending Twts to the bottom of the file. Edits should never modify the timestamp of the Twt being edited, nor should a Twt that was edited by deleted, unless you actually intended to delete it (but that's more complicated as it's very hard to control or tell clients what to do in a truely decentralised ecosystem for the deletion case). #Twtxt #Client #Recommendations
