Sore’s “Timeline” suffers the same problem: https://darch.dk/timeline/profile?url=https://ferengi.one/twtxt.txt
@movq@www.uninformativ.de so lucky! 😅 We bought $20 worth of candies that I will be forced to slowly consume now. Can’t waste them, right? 😂
@prologic@twtxt.net really?! Wow, you can tell I had no idea.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt something is affecting your DNS, or something else is happening. They both work fine for me.
That being said, someone else manages https://indieweb.org/twtxt. Little to do with anyone around here, I think.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de about the Halloween revellers, we only had two kids knocking at our door. That’s two more than the last 3-4 years, on which we had none.
The change @doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt refers to is: https://twtxt.net/twt/tho4wpq
@prologic@twtxt.net? or not @prologic@twtxt.net, that’s the question!
@prologic@twtxt.net but I have placed question marks, commas, and periods after @prologic@twtxt.net, and it has worked fine (this one, for example).
@prologic@twtxt.net yes.
@prologic@twtxt.net, see broken mention above. Yarn is extremely inconsistent when mentioning.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt right, jenny isn’t the problem, it’s your platform of choice. The fetching of archives doesn’t happen all time (once only, right @movq?), but yes, depending on the amount of feeds you follow that first time might take a while.
@prologic@twtxt.net yeah, streamline. Make Yarn Great Again! 🤭
@<bender bender@twtxt.net>
is currently wrong. The 2nd part of a mention is currently required to be a full absolute URI.
@prologic@twtxt.net all these years preparing to be the AI you have become, and the justification you pick is ‘being “human”’? 😂
@<bender bender@twtxt.net>
is currently wrong. The 2nd part of a mention is currently required to be a full absolute URI.
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com righto, thanks!
@<bender bender@twtxt.net>
is currently wrong. The 2nd part of a mention is currently required to be a full absolute URI.
@prologic@twtxt.net where did he pointed it out? I don’t see a twtxt from him on this yarn.
@Codebuzz@www.codebuzz.nl you replied to me, but the reply was just an @, nothing else (the whole handle was missing).
There are no web mentions here, and no notifications. It isn’t Mastodon; if you want to see if someone wrote something new, or replied to you, you need to open your client.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de on this:
I use Mastodon similarly. I write posts in Vim until I’m happy with them. Then copy-and-paste to the browser …
You could use toot, and bypass the browser altogether.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de did you edit this twtxt? I shows fine on jenny, but in here (twtxt.net) seems to be missing a line in between the quoted text, and your reply (part of your reply is mashed with the quoted text).
@prologic@twtxt.net, I don’t know if you will notice that the first line on the block below has a slight indentation:
First line.
Second line.
Third line.
I believe this, on CSS, is causing it:
pre>code {
padding:0 .25rem;
}
@movq@www.uninformativ.de was going to say, “let them be, mate, let them be”. :-)
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org and for those who were as lost as me, you are referring to this @movq@www.uninformativ.de’s comment: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/twtxt.dev/pulls/4#issuecomment-18024 :-D
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org ah, Americans, and their backwards dates! LOL. Even using the “American” style, I will never leave out the year (it is way too bogus for me), thus 1/4/2024, or 1/4/24, which “should” format just fine.
I prefer 2024-01-04. :-)
1/4
to mean "first out of four".
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org and…
My
1/4
-> ¼ thing is nothing more than a minor irritation which probably isn’t worth overthinking.
Yet, here we are still debating it. LOL.
1/4
to mean "first out of four".
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org what happens if those four things you carefully planned to point out become six? Will you retroactively go and edit all previous twtxts to account for that change, thus breaking any potential replies/forks to them?
@Codebuzz@www.codebuzz.nl we use clients to do that, but some users may want to, or do, manually edit the twtxt.txt
file.
@prologic@twtxt.net that means changes will need to be made to Yarn too then, right? Right now Yarn uses markdown rendering for everything, but if someone’s feed states text/plain
, then it will have to disabled markdown rendering for it, correct? If that’s the case, are you sure you want that? 😅
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org about this:
but FWIW I’m not especially keen on changing how I format my twts to work around yarnd’s quirks.
Yet, you are asking Yarn to change the format to work around how you want it display. 🤔
@thecanine@twtxt.net ahh, Google, what can I say?! It is amazing for me to think I used to have everything on Google, and now I have nothing. I mean, I have kept my Gmail, and Google Voice. The first I don’t use, but I have it since beta (was of the few first to be invited to it), so it has a “sentimental” value. The second is my catch-all-spam number.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de sounds counterproductive. The power of open source is that it benefits from everyone’s participation. Why to develop in a close source setting then? Hmm.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I agree. Even if I will not use it, allowing to do similarly to the commercial “service” in a selfhosted, non-algos, non-ad-targeting environment, is the way to go.
@sorenpeter@darch.dk I can IRC on mobile, but I choose not too. It is not as easy as when using a desktop computer.
@sorenpeter@darch.dk I use TheLounge. Similar to the one @prologic@twtxt.net uses, but self hosted. Always connected.
Well for iPhones 15 Pro and 16 Pro Max, and all on the 16 line.
iOS 18.1 is out. It brings the beginning of Apple Intelligence.
@prologic@twtxt.net no, no, I haven’t said anything about turning of smartypants! That would be a step backwards, right? I mean, ¼ is the way to represent a fraction, so its rendering is right spot on.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org the name of the instrument is Guzheng. She is amazing, wow! @movq@www.uninformativ.de, she never shows her face, it is her artist’s “signature” behaviour.
@prologic@twtxt.net right, but that uses code/pre
. Don’t get me wrong, whatever works, it works.
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org hmm, Smartypants does that. I am not sure there is a way to escape it. One could write “1 of 4”, or 1 / 4 (not sure how this last will render).
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com let me come to the defence of Aelaraji here, and make clear that they are not a “piece of shit”! 😊
tw.txt
file wherever". The essence of micro-blogging, as opposed to full-scale blogging, is low friction and low stakes. Imposing a norm that you can't just use any ol' url, looking down on people with insufficently cool urls (as in "Cool URIs don't change" https://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI), puts up too much of a barrier to entry.
@prologic@twtxt.net I might join from mum’s house. That’s, if she let me. 😅😅😅
@prologic@twtxt.net don’t let anyone bum you out, mate. We take corrective action, and move on.
I mean, you will quit twtxt when you please, but not because of some irrelevant feed. Won’t you agree?
@prologic@twtxt.net looks like. See @movq@www.uninformativ.de’s explanation.
@prologic@twtxt.net it is hard to explain. I replied to OP, mention didn’t work. Then replied again, to start mention didn’t work. Then @movq@www.uninformativ.de replied. Then I replied, but my replied to OP was overwritten by my last reply, no idea how. This (https://twtxt.net/twt/zyo3buq) was my reply to this (https://twtxt.net/twt/rzuepoq).
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org that’s Lyse, doing god’s work! :-P
I find it ironically amusing when people leaves twtxt, which anyone can, or could, read (no needs for sign ups, etc.), and move to Twitter. 🤦🏻♂️
Well, that mention didn’t work. Yarn has been very unreliable on that front (amongst others). Hmm.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I see. If I edit it, is shows as @gallowsgryph@twtxt.prismdragon.net
.
WOAH! What happened here? I replied to https://twtxt.net/twt/rzuepoq, just now, and this twtxt shows “2h ago”.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt like OP, that will not work, as it has wrong/incomplete information.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt “in TWTXT.net, avatars are set for you!” 😂
The specific syntax must (should) be followed as well: https://wicg.github.io/scroll-to-text-fragment/#syntax
@sorenpeter@darch.dk your mentions are broken too. His shows fine:
# nick = movq
# url = https://www.uninformativ.de/twtxt.txt
# avatar = https://www.uninformativ.de/avatar.png#20240102
#
# [...]
#
# Legacy, don't use:
# nick_alias = vain
#
# prev = 6v47cua twtxt-old_2024-04-21_6v47cua.txt
What’s on the [...]
is just a comment he added. Here is mine:
# nick = bender
# url = https://twtxt.net/user/bender/twtxt.txt
# avatar = https://twtxt.net/user/bender/avatar#zccci5jyuxv266gelyggvufoacqp3elvhyv2k3t7sfl6hlggtkza
# description = "Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own theme park. With blackjack and hookers! In fact, forget the park."
Because the formatting of your twtxt.txt file “headers” is wrong. Everything in your twtxt.txt in here:
# nick = sorenpeter
# description = visualist and livecoder
# url = http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt
# avatar = http://darch.dk/avatar.png
# profile = http://darch.dk/timeline
# webmention = http://darch.dk/timeline/webmention
# prev = archive twtxt-archive.txt
I think it is being ignored. It should be:
# nick = sorenpeter
# description = visualist and livecoder
# url = http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt
# avatar = http://darch.dk/avatar.png
# profile = http://darch.dk/timeline
# webmention = http://darch.dk/timeline/webmention
# prev = archive twtxt-archive.txt
@prologic@twtxt.net it has been around for much longer (worked on Chrome, just recently does on Safari).
@anth@a.9srv.net that doesn’t work because you need encode that URL, like so http://a.9srv.net/tw.txt#:~:text=2024%2D10%2D08-,2024%2D10%2D23T18%3A59%3A49%2D07%3A00
I have muted the user. Everything is back to its peaceful “normality”. LOL.
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt someone started to follow a “dead” feed. And the feed’s owner is fed up with people following their dead feed, and they have come up with an “innovative” way to fight it.
text file busy
. Example:
@movq@www.uninformativ.de allow me to stump you! Our Oracle team runs scripts, java, and a few others from NFS shares. That has become a true problem when VMs have moved to Azure, and NFS servers remain on premises. NFS doesn’t like latency, especially when laced with high I/O activity.
@prologic@twtxt.net right, but “regular” forks have parents. An edited twt—currently—has none. Edits just create a new branch-less leaf.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org the addressing of the “Bug Bounty program associated with this case” is such a total BS! I can’t help but believing the kid over Zendesk. The “-99” downvotes are telling. I could’t give mine, because I am not signing up on Zendesk for it. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Need more peeps in my clan. Anyone around playing Diablo IV? 😂
@movq@www.uninformativ.de so, you keep lots of monologues. That’s the best “conversation” to keep! LOL.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Zendesk behaved like total arses on this one. At least that’s what comes across reading one side of the story.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de while on the topic of WhatsApp, Europe is pretty reliant on it, isn’t it? Myself, in the US, exclusively use Messages (a vanilla iOS application) for 99% of my messaging needs. Only have WhatsApp… (what a shocker!) for my European family, and handful of friends. 🥴
@prologic@twtxt.net and us with it. :-P
@prologic@twtxt.net you are too nice. 😂
@prologic@twtxt.net nope, you didn’t. I am simply stating what it might come across as obvious. LOL.
@prologic@twtxt.net I used WordPress from 2004 to 2011. Based on his behaviour, I don’t think Matt is a good guy. I wouldn’t want him as an acquaintance.
Ugh! May the afflicted get well soon!
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org will do my best! 😅 Milton has sustained winds of 270 kph now, but it is still at sea. Once it touches ground it is bound to lose strength.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de yes, there is no evacuation going on where we live—Central-East Florida. It will be category 1-2 here. Non-flooding area.
Arriving tomorrow. Finishing all preps as best as we can.
My condolences.
It comes across as the beginning of a “corporate sell out”. Also, links to X, and Threads, but the Fediverse link doesn’t work. Really? Overall, it doesn’t seem right (at least to me). Oh, also Meta on that list: https://socialwebfoundation.org/2024/09/24/launch/. Nope. Pass.
@xuu@txt.sour.is pretty interesting. The client is pretty polished for an open source app.
@xuu@txt.sour.is now I have it:
@thecanine@twtxt.net I say you are beyond mastering dog’s pixelart! 😊
First time I heard of it. What is an SMP, and can you run it? Let me read about it.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de woot! C should run pretty much everywhere, and for a long period of time. Long live C!
Wouldn’t this also apply to C, and Assembler, to mention two? https://registerspill.thorstenball.com/p/glad-i-did-it-in-go
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org forgot to add that this:
people can put red ribbons on their fruit trees to signal that they are free to use for everyone.
Is mighty awesome, and gives a sense of small community. That’s why I asked how big, or small, your town was. 😊
@movq@www.uninformativ.de if I didn’t know we were talking about a protocol, I would think they were referring to an automobile model. 😂
They are going through some traffic pains, I can tell. Bug referencing the commit here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1515352
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org wow, thank you for explaining the process so conscientiously. If I ever come across an apple tree, I now know (or have the text to read and follow) how to make some mean apple sauce. I can tell, though, without a doubt, nothing I can buy off the shelves here would even get close.
How, this is some funny easter egg: https://git.savannah.nongnu.org/cgit/man-db.git/commit/src/man.c?id=002a6339b1fe8f83f4808022a17e1aa379756d99
Oh boy… Eugene Rochko’s status. And what a flashy name, “Social Web Foundation”. See the “industry support” header on that page. Don’t like it one bit.
@off_grid_living@twtxt.net that, or simply forget you ever found that PDF. 🎶 It’s easy, if you try… 🎶 🤭
@movq@www.uninformativ.de there is much more activity in USENET. 🤭
Joke aside, if anyone using a sane protocol (sorry, sorry, no more jokes!) wants to see what’s been referred about here, without leaving the browser, head over.
o1-preview
. I've used it for various tasks from writing documentation, specs, shell scripts, to code (in Go).
@prologic@twtxt.net quoting a friend of mine, C# developer of 25 years now converted to DevOP:
“If you are not using AI everyday, you’re working too much”, and “completely worth it [referring to the use of ChatGPT], no question. Same work output, in less of my time. More breaks for me.”
It is not to rely on it 100%. It’s just a tool.
@prologic@twtxt.net exactly! Supposedly this engagement of his is “blessed” by his lawyers. 🤦🏻♂️ He might need better lawyers too!
“You have reached a non-working number at UPS […]” says the recording. If it is a non-working number, it wouldn’t even ring, right? It should have said “You have reached an outgoing calls only number at UPS […]”, or better yet, route outgoing call only numbers to the one we should be calling instead. Problem resolved.
See comments from him (photomatt
