lol apparently I’ve been suspended from Reddit due to some violation of content policy. However, they haven’t actually told me what content policy that I have violated. How to get unsuspended? Prove that you haven’t violated the content security policy. This is the most asinine thing that I’ve ever seen.

@prologic@twtxt.net I can’t say that I’m surprised either. I kinda knew in the back of my mind that it was a matter of time. I don’t exactly hold conventional views on things (Minarchist with AnCap tendencies and a borderline Bitcoin maximalist). I just figured that I’d actually know why I was banned 🤣. Perhaps I’ll find another forum-style site to patronize.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci looks like it was the “AI said so”. I “got caught in Reddit’s spam filter”. They unbanned me. I get why this happens, but it’s super annoying since my conduct was not even close to bannable. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I think I’d prefer to pay a one time fee or a small fee for every post on sites I use a lot rather than them being ad supported and having to put up with overly aggressive spam filters.

@prologic@twtxt.net Enough to make garden variety spamming not worth it but not so much that I regular folks can’t afford it. I think a larger one time fee to establish the account (that you don’t get back if you get banned) might be slightly more effective, especially with the current payment rails that exist.

@prologic@twtxt.net for my pod and all the pods to come i envision some kind of membership feed of maybe 1eur på month or 5eur pr year and then we will provide all the service you would need to selfhost you digital life. Similar to pikapod and sandstorm but way easier to use for the average person

@prologic@twtxt.net There are some folks in podcasting trying to figure it out. People can send podcasters money for every minute of their watch time. It’s voluntary in this context, but I could see this being adapted to a “pay to post” context. These micro transactions probably wouldn’t be feasible with current payment rails. They’re using the lightning network which is a layer 2 protocol on top of bitcoin. Transaction fees can be as low as one ten thousandth of a penny (USD). That makes it feasible to send ridiculously small amounts back and forth between two parties.

@prologic@twtxt.net @abucci@anthony.buc.ci we understand the capitalist issues (aiming for the maximum profit, owning the production means and making the investors happy)
Sadly, removing the money interest doesn’t remove the money supplies need to run the operations.

I think co-ops are a good middle, where the users or the workers are at the same time micro-investors, so the have the bones in it, instead of being an external capitalist investor (only bringing money)

@tkanos@twtxt.net Yeah, I’ve scrolled the front page of lobste.rs a few times. I always left with the impression that it’s basically HackerNews but with fewer comments and everyone basically agrees on most things. That’s not inherently a bad thing, but I find the sheer volume of perspectives on HackerNews more enjoyable. I feel like I learn about so many interesting extra things from the comments.
