@prologic@twtxt.net Why get locked in to that proprietary, centralized service when you can use any Nitter instance and any feed reader you want?
@mckinley@twtxt.net I’m not suggesting anyone should 😅 – But as I filed here (which as far as I know also uses the same Unofficial API as Nitter instances?) in the end doesn’t work. I’ve actually+ since removed Twitter™ support from the Feed Services sadly because of this.
I don’t know how to fix/resolve this at all, without having a Twitter™ account and Developer API access, which is what I assume rss.app does.
I’m actually really fucking pissed (as likely many others are) that Twitter™ decided to drop RSS/Atom in their “service”. Despite Twitter™ actually being an open platform, it really isn’t as far as I’m concerned. Twitter™ is just proprietary, advertising, data stealing bullshit.
@prologic@twtxt.net hmmm, I feel you are angry so I won’t play as devil’s advocate.
What I can add, something controversial, is that those huge companies like power and controlling who can access to the info is a source of power.
Something that disappoints me is that they use open standards for a while (XMPP for FB Messenger, RSS, email) and when it’s not convenient anymore they stop those APIs.
I understand they need to make money for their investors, but… I don’t know what to say than, we could decide not to be the product.
but that’s difficult in countries like mine where you can get data plans with free access to the mainstream social media, Meta, TT, and such, obviously subsidized by ads and payed to the carriers.
I don’t want to only comply, but I can’t find an easy way to fix that. Any ideas ?
Agreed, but Nitter makes it better. It’s probably one of the strongest of the alternative frontends. There are 83 documented, public, clearnet instances.
>> document.querySelector("table:nth-of-type(2)").querySelectorAll("tr").length - 1
<- 83
@eaplmx@twtxt.net Oh no I’m not angry 😆 I mean I am but these discussions are always good to have 👌
I feel (for example) if the likes of Elon Musk are serious “freedom of speech” “less moderation and fake accounts” Elon should fund Yarn.social instead of buying Twitter 😆
