Another day, another 5m outage 🤬
@fastidious@arrakis.netbros.com My options are limited:
- Continue fighting with NBN Co
- Upgrade to NBN Enterprise Ethernet
- Switch to FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) at NBN’s (questionablly lega) “rip-off” price of $13,500 AUD
- Sell my home and relocate to somewhere better
@fastidious@arrakis.netbros.com NBN Co is a monopoly Government-provided (tax payer funded) provider! 😂 So yeah you are right, we have very few options here in Australia. Telstra (what used to also be owned by the government before they sold it off and it became a private company and monoply) own all theinfrastructure, pits and conduits all over the country (effectively) 🤦♂️
@eldersnake@yarn.andrewjvpowell.com Are you telling me you get a more reliable Internet connection with fewer outages than fixed wired connectivity?! 😳 And a DIY job?! 🤔
@eldersnake@yarn.andrewjvpowell.com Wow! 😳 That’s amazing mate 👌
See I can deal with occasionally packet loss but not ~5min long outages every ~5days !!! 🤦♂️🤬
@fastidious@arrakis.netbros.com OMFG!!! 😱 I hate you so much! 😂 (kidding) Fuck’n hell that’s insanely cheap! 🤦♂️
@ullarah@txt.quisquiliae.com Who’s that with mate? 🤔 And that’s provided by NBN’s Infrastructure? 🤔
@xuu@txt.sour.is Not sure if Starlink satellites are in orbit around/over Australia yet, but I wouldn’t go with that option anyway due to the latency alone.
Agreed the technology is much improved compared to the old high orbit sats 👌
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com Oh geez 😳 Why is the latency so bad for you?! 🤔😳
Can you do a speed test to https://speedtest.mills.io and screenshot the result here? 🤗
