The EU Commission plans to present a bill on 27 April 2022 that would oblige providers of mail, chat and messenger services to use technical means to scan all messages of their users for criminal content. Currently, this project, which deeply interferes with the privacy of all citizens, is justified by the fight against child pornography.

I’ve signed this petition even though I’m not an EU citizen (I feel like I should be!) and I’ve chipped in $40 to get 1,000 views of this petition (hopefully) 👌 I find it disgusting as hell that even the EU would stoop this low and errode at our basic human rights to basic privacy and choice. Seriously what the actual fuck?! If you know there was a law that forced every communications provider to snoop on your every message, email, whatever, would you even bother using the Internet at that point?! May as well go back to snail mail, at least the postman doesn’t open your fucking letter to your grandma? (or do they? 🤔)

@prologic@twtxt.net Thanks. Really nice of you. I also try to get as many people on it to sign it. But most of my family and friends do not understand what this means for them in the future. They are long time friends and family, but most of them are still on the “I have nothing to hide” train.
