Yeah if you can find other RSS feeds into Twitter accounts you want to follow, just shove those into the feeds.twtxt.net service. In general however i”m not really sure what to do here to support “Twitter” feeds better honestly. I’m considering removing that feature entirely since Twitter™ are basically being right royal assholes at this point. I mean if Twitter™ is an open transparent social media (Yarn.social most definitely is) then why block scraping?! 🤦‍♂️ – Moreover, I’m not willing to by a hypocrite and create/have/manage a Twitter™ account just so we can have a set of API keys to grok their API instead 😢 (I’m already a hyprocrite because I still use Google, the ‘old Google Apps they’re trying to get me off!)

@prologic@twtxt.net Nitter’s RSS solves the issue! I’d probably advocate for replacing the current (not working) Twitter import option with it! Sure, you get dependent on a 3rd party, but it avoids all the “hypocrisy” questions! ;-)

@marado@twtxt.net Would Nitter’s be okay with that? 🤔 I dunno, how do we ask ‘em?

Or thinking out loud here… Should we just make it easier to find RSS/Atom feeds in the first place? Right now you just drop a random website URL in and it’ll “attempt” to find the RSS/Atom feed (if one exists).

@prologic@twtxt.net Apparently, nitter “Uses Twitter’s unofficial API (no rate limits or developer account required)”, so I suppose you could run your own instance and not depend on a 3rd party, or even just see on nitter’s code (it’s free software!) thev relevant parts of that ‘unofficial API’…
