Anyone noticed the new small UX tweak on “Feed Types” ? 🤔 😅
(of course it depends on you git pull
‘ing, rebuilding and running an edge/master version of yarnd
at the moment, not sure when we’ll do another release…)
@abucci@anthony.buc.ci Then in that case we should think about cutting a new release soon 👌
@akoizumi@kyoko.nerdpol.ovh Hmmm? 🤔 I don’t understand what you just said…
@prologic@twtxt.net how do you know I’m not a bot 🤖?
@eaplmx@twtxt.net It’s easy. I haven’t updated the Metadata spec yet, but I should do this soon.
Basically its as simple as:
# type = <type>
In your feed. Where <type>
is one of (currently):
rss
bot
Or blank or unspecified (the default).
There’s no magic™ here, its’ an explicit declaration of the type of feed decided by the feed author(s). In the case of the software that powers feeds.twtxt.net and feeds.twtxt.cc (outdated) this is decided by the software itself.
Make sense? 🤞
@prologic@twtxt.net don’t we have another wording instead of type (too very generic wording) ? Like …. I have no idea for now, I will search.
@tkanos@twtxt.net Hmmm 🤔 I think type
is okay IMHO and I don’t expect more types than a few and it’s completely an optional field for normal users/people.
I think this is a great change, but do we need to mark every human as such on the Web interface? I think it just adds clutter to the page.
I can also see people (read: me) being “trained” over time to not notice the icon because it’s a human 99% of the time.
@prologic@twtxt.net I saw it immediately after updating the pod.
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net Nice! 👌 I think I’ll cut a new release this weekend 👌
