Now that we can mention people by simply knowing their nick, and where they are, it is very simple to say: hi there, @eaplmx@twtxt.net.
For anyone else reading this… What @fastidious@arrakis.netbros.com is talking about here is a re-introduction of the @foo@domain
syntax which we’re going to dub “Yarn Handle” (unless anyone else has a better name?)
That is a mention of @prologic@twtxt.net
(for example) does a lookup on https://twtxt.net
for a special meta tag of <meta name="yarn-uri" context="/user/%s/twtxt.txt" />
and uses this to automatically expand the mention to its proper Twtxt form of @<prologic https://twtxt.net/user/prologic/twtxt.txt>
👌
This works for any Yarn.social pod as well as the feeds.twtxt.net service. It can also work for any other Twtxt user as well by just simply adding the following to the root/index page of your domain:
<meta name="yarn-uri" context="/path/to/your/twtxt.txt" />
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Okay I’m sold. rel="twtxt"
is is 👌
