On Switching to Ed: https://atthis.link/blog/2020/usingEd.html
@mckinley@mckinley.cc I actually write a version of ed that I actually used (for a while) as my primary text editor. It is possible, and isn’t really that bad. For me (because I’m blind anyway) navigating the “file” isn’t that hard for me, I tend to have a better memory of the contents of the file naturally I guess…
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Well you could clone and build mine, go get
‘int it might even work 😅
@mckinley@twtxt.net I read your blog post and I find your comments on navigating in the contents of a file particularly interesting… Do you think there would be a way perhaps to make that a little bit easier while still preserving the original intent of Ed itself? It would be something I wouldn’t mind exploring myself 🤔
@mckinley@twtxt.net I I’m sorry I thought it was yours 🤦♂️ All good! I actually do use my ed on a daily basis, I just don’t use it regularly to edit large pieces of text (only small pieces)
