Have you ever wanted to learn how to program, or to learn a new concept? Have you ever come across a technology you wanted to play around with but had no idea how to get started? Does it feel like there is too much information about programming on the internet?
Learning programming is DIFFICULT
Programming is DIFFICULT
No it’s not.
Programming is a difficult topic to break into. It’s a complicated field
No it’s not. We’ve just created a HUGE industry around it and made it harder than it has to be.
They promote misinformation
That’s it, I’m out! 😂
I have no respect for anyone that starts peddling the “mainstream” narrative. If you don’t understand the space you’re talking/blogging about, just don’t try. “Must tutorials promote misinformation”?! seriously 🤦♂️ wtf is this guy smoking?! 😂
Beer and Bath time for me 😅
@prologic@twtxt.net That’s true too. But I see it right now with my wife. She wants to create a simple website from scratch and wants to learn the things on her own. I told her couple times: look. It is not worth buying video courses where the guy tells you 10 hours on how to create a paragraph. The documentation is there with looots of examples. She is facing the same as I did when I asked for motivation. You need a project to learn not a course.
@prologic@twtxt.net I don’t know. Some of is valid what he speaks about. But the point with the misinformation you’re right. At least every tutorial has some information that is usable.
@prologic@twtxt.net And I feel sorry for causing so much heat here :-)
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net You haven’t caused any heat here at all ! 😅 This it totally good discourse, this subject though (programming) is just near and dear to my heart, and this guy Douglass” doesn’t seem to understand the problem space all that well 😂 – I also (as clearly evidenced) get “turned off” by BS like “Blah blah misinformation”. I’m a bit more direct and straight 😅 – Maybe the author could have said:
Most tutorials are shallow and don’t cover enough depth
I dunno 😅
So I managed to get my wife to build a couple of websites with a tool called Mobirize 👌
@prologic@twtxt.net This could have been a phrase to use instead of the one he used with the word ‘misinformation’. Sure. I do get your point. But maybe because you are programming for so long, it might be easier to learn something new?
@screem@yarn.yarnpods.com Hahahaha 😂 I hear ya and I tend to agree with your assessment 😅
@prologic@twtxt.net and @screem@yarn.yarnpods.com I think you posted into this yarn thread? Your posts somehow are attached to this conversation /conv/c7sqfjq
@carsten@yarn.zn80.net That’s right 😆 Right thread / Yarn 😆
@prologic@twtxt.net lmao the site title sounds pretty much like clickbait XD

@novaburst@twt.nfld.uk Yes yes it’s a horribly “marketing” website. It has “bullshit” written all over it, because again “confirmation bias”. Because everyone else out there is making bullshit, over-hyped websites and landing pages, everyone thinks that’s what attracts people to their website and their product.
@adi@twtxt.net yes it’s not easy, but I don’t see anyone attempting to make it easier? Do you?
