Got a new pack of rosin for my double bass. There was a large bubble of air trapped inside. 🥴 It slowly made its way up over the course of a couple of days and now it finally burst. 😅
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Haha, cool! :-) Also funny how the red container makes it completely change color.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Indeed, it’s quite translucent. 😃
It depends on the type of rosin, though. The one that I used before is basically opaque and also much harder:
I intentionally went for the softer rosin this time, because I find it easier to use. It’s stickier and can be applied to the bow much easier.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de How often do you apply it?
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Every time a little bit before you play. Sometimes more. 😅 It’s easily noticeable if there’s not enough rosin on the bow, because there won’t be enough friction and the bow will begin to just slide over the strings. Sounds horrible. 😂
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Oohhh, okay! Way more often than I thought. It’s similar to oiling my handplane. Every time it squeeks or the friction gets too much (just the opposite ;-)), I pull the plane sole over my “rag in a can” oiler.
