What did you use for FM transmission ?
I wanted to setup one in my university so it’s a kind of pending project

I thought the lifespan was decades 😮 is it perhaps a matter of humidity?
I threw away all my CDs and DVDs so I don’t have that problem anymore, but I wonder what would happen with my grandpa’s discs. And yeah, moving home with physical media, music 💿, books 📚, magazines 📜, is troublesome.

I’m aware that those cheap devices FM have awful quality and low range.

But I’m seeing bad reviews, on a lot of static and bad audio quality. And again, now Bluetooth has much better quality than FM can give, so it’s more for nostalgic purposes, like LoFi music, artificially adding noise.
For DVDs, damn, we’ll need to make backups, especially for content hard to find again Who would think?
I don’t want to derail this Yarn, so please fork this when you see it 😅 – Speaking of FM Transmitters and what not, I actually have a new project I’d like to build with two requirements:
- Some kind of small compute device that can be powered either via USB or 12V DC Socket
- A built-in FM transmitter so I can stream a subset of our own music (we’d copy form our NAS initially).
- A way to stream Plex into the HDMI input of a small portable TV screen (also powered by 12DC)
