Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans
@prologic@twtxt.net had to get Compiz from the edge/testing
repo, but I believe that you can do without it. Xfce’s default Alt+Scroll
thing works out of the box.
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com I might consider reviving it after perfecting the twtxt search engine 🤔
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com So it all just worked?
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com Ahh awesome thank you! The reason for Conpiz is that I remember it having good full screen Zoom for the vision impaired like me.

@quark@ferengi.one What would happen if I replayed to this twt from the future, when I’m still in it’s relative past? 🤔
@prologic@twtxt.net Trust me, it would’ve made the world a better place.
@sorenpeter@darch.dk Really cool that you did the presentation about Twtxt! Thanks for doing this.
@prologic@twtxt.net Oh! I’d like to see this one too. 3:)
@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt that’s truly amazing and unsurprisingly shocking! 😱 anyone that has an X account should immediately reconsider 🤣
Btw about social: found very interesting thing about twitter:
The legal basis that X asserts in the filing is not terribly interesting. But what is interesting is that X has decided to involve itself at all, and it highlights that you do not own your followers or your account or anything at all on corporate social media, and it also highlights the fact that Elon Musk’s X is primarily a political project he is using to boost, or stifle, specific viewpoints and help his friends. In the filing, X’s lawyers essentially say—like many other software companies, and, increasingly, device manufacturers as well—that the company’s terms of service grant X’s users a “license” to use the platform but that, ultimately, X owns all accounts on the social network and can do anything that it wants with them.

@slashdot@feeds.twtxt.net what the hell?! Google Chrome is neither a business nor a company. I mean, I agree that Google should probably be broken up but what the fuck is this got to do with Google Chrome, which is based on an open source Chromium which is itself as a fork of KHTML/Webkit?! 🤔 da fuq!’ Do we just not understand Google/Alphabwt anymore? 🤦♂️

Google’s Chrome Worth Up To $20 Billion If Judge Orders Sale
Alphabet’s Chrome browser could go for as much as $20 billion if a judge agrees to a Justice Department proposal to sell the business, in what would be a historic crackdown on one of the world’s biggest tech companies. From a report: The department will ask the judge, who ruled in August that Google illegally monopolized the search market, to require measur … ⌘ Read more
Given the incredible damage social media has done to democracy and our mental health, I’d like to see it banned for anyone under 200 years old.
And this is just funny but effective 🤣
Forcing social media to open their algorithms: hostile to corporations
Forcing young people to not use social media: hostile to young people, helps prevent them from organizing
You think they did this for the benefit of the young people?
Also this ☝️
As drinkypoo pointed out above, it’s all about the algorithms. If social media wasn’t driven by advertising and engagement - if it was implemented as societal infrastructure for the well-being of all citizens and the financial profit of nobody - then it would be a great good in society. As it exists currently, it’s a Trojan horse whose belly is full of contagious cancer
