monerobull submits CCS proposal to maintain Monero Website Workgroup
monerobull1 has submitted a CCS proposal2 to maintain the Monero Website Workgroup 3 and work on various Monero non-dev stuff for 3 months:

I was recently mentioned in a CCS proposal by geonic, famous Monero movie director. There’s a lot of opportunity for improvement in the non-dev areas of the project, and not always enough hands to get it done. It was agreed upon that, were … ⌘ Read more

David Rosenthal on the X Windowsing System’s 40th birthday
David Rosenthal, one of the primary contributors to the X Windowing System, has published an awesome blog post about the recent 40 year anniversary of X, full of details about the early days of X development, as well as the limitations they had to deal with, the choices they had to make, and the environment in which they were constrained. Once at Sun I realized that it was more important for the company that the Uni … ⌘ Read more

There’s something special about writing your own programs for OS/2 in C and finally getting it to work after sifting through lots of ancient docs. ✨

I’d be totally lost without KO Myung-Hun’s website and Open Watcom v2. 🙏

(I’m making a little tool to dump floppy disks to image files. I know these programs already exist – I’m doing it for fun and to learn. The task itself is not complicated, but finding the correct docs is.)

Some sanity for C and C++ development on Windows
The article’s from 2021, but I think it’s still worth discussing. A hard reality of C and C++ software development on Windows is that there has never been a good, native C or C++ standard library implementation for the platform. A standard library should abstract over the underlying host facilities in order to ease portable software development. On Windows, C and C++ is so poorly hooked up to operating system interfaces that most portab … ⌘ Read more

The Strategy of Beingness
Stephan A. Schwartz,  Editor  -  Schwartzreport

_Stephan: Today we celebrate the ratification of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. In my lifetime, in my opinion, from World War II to today the United States has never been in greater peril as the democracy the Founders created. Our Congress is corrupt. Our Supreme Court is corrupt, and little more than a political action group. And we have a multiple convicted felon, rapist, … ⌘ Read more
