Hehe, although it isn’t a fancy language PHP has improved a lot since the old PHP 5 days ¯_(ツ)_/¯ It’s 3 to 5 times slower than Go, so I think that’s not too bad

Also I’m thinking on adding support for If-Modified-Since since it’ll improve the refreshing process 🤔

Been forcing myself to use vim more often, just because it honestly does run better on my machines. The mode-based UX still hasn’t grown on me, but I’m getting used to it.

On the positive side, I’m using vimwiki again, and it definitely fits my needs better than zim-desktop, or running a full-blown wiki on a webserver.

I agree with what you say too. The whole thing is just an odd approach and can’t possibly be effective, all the while causing inconveniences or at worst, being plain weird and invasive like ID verification.

@bender@twtxt.net My made-up rule is to keep at least three full months in the main feed and when rotating, I create one feed per month.

@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt There is no real recommendation I think. But if you hit half a MiB or so, it might be worth considering to rotate in order to keep the network traffic low. People with bad connectivitiy might appreciate it. I want to implement HTTP range requests in my client rewrite at some point in time (but first, it has to become kinda usable, though).

I agree that building a Web Browser is complicated and hard, but that’s only because of the expectations we place on web browsers today and the enormous set of features they now carry. Ultimately we’re still talking about one of the most powerful and simplest protocols ever invesnted, the Hypermedia Text Transport Protocol and Hypermedia Systems.

But that’s not what I meant when I said “The web is seemingly garbage these days”.

Wanted to share that we’re so proud of our six year old son; after taking skating lessons himself, he taught me and my wife how to stop on skates today. He was so proud about that he could teach us something good. Enjoyed also playing table tennis with him in the park, even-though it got windy, we had fun and didn’t give up trying to have a decent game. And at the guided tour at the old hot-metal plant in Duisburg yesterday, he asked the best questions and could be the guide’s assistant - holding the flashlight.
