Hi Everyone! For the month of February @prologic@twtxt.net and I are donating our beer budget to the yarn.social collective!! We would love for the yarn community to join us in not only ‘dry February’ but also making a financial donation. Funds
collected will be used to pay a mobile developer to help build the mobile app! (@prologic@twtxt.net can speak to these tech goals)

I have kicked it off. Bye wine 🍷 I will
miss you!

In-reply-to » I am stuck at home recovering from surgery and getting bored. does anyone have any YouTube channel recommendations?

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org thanks for these! surprisingly I have actually already seen a couple of these! I love the primitive builders. also I am fascinated by snow camping?!? hot tents, cars etc. I think because it’s so far removed from what we have here!

In-reply-to » Does anyone have first-hand experience with blue light filter glasses for sitting in front of computer screens? I hear plenty of people swearing by them. Since I don't have any issues with screens myself (well, not that I know of so far), I cannot really believe that they would improve my screen time. But nearly all claim that they cannot go back anymore.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org probably closer to the hour mark. I also forget to blink so my eyes get sore from being dry. I think it’s especially good at night time.

For the last 2 years we have used this Moreton Bay Fig as our Christmas tree

Download

The children were disappointed that we didn’t have a plastic one. But I think this one works great! Live pine trees are not common here. That was one thing I really enjoyed living in the US. I loved the smell of the Xmas pine tree! Anyone else care to share pic of their Xmas tree??? we would love to see them!!

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org oh I see Amazon.com have them really cheap. I think it’s worth trying!

yeah I have them. I started with a cheap pair (plastic) from department store. I think cost was $7. they tone down the glare. I will often get sore eyes from screens. I liked it so much I had them put the tint onto my usual prescription glasses. the bright white screen turns slightly yellow. we can probably organize to send you a cheap pair to try.

those tents on top of cars are popular here right now. I’m terrified of climbing ladders so wouldn’t suit is!! plus we have 4 ppl and they look rather small.

FYI- these kittens are in our care from the RSPCA (animal welfare association). they were abandoned at 3 weeks old by an irresponsible pet owner. We are looking after them until they are big enough to be go to their forever homes. 😿😻

In-reply-to » Poor Mark Zuckerberg -- You gotta feel a wee bit sorry for the guy, he started out building something to help university students find each other on a campus, then turned that into a company, couldn't figure out how to "monetise" it until some clever person came along (Sheryl?) and suggested Facebook™ run ads. Then the company set the trend for maliciously stealing all of our data, spying on us and selling our souls to the proverbial devils (advertisers). Now Mark has punted on this so-called "Metaverse" and it isn't going very well 😅 (Metaverse isn't even in any dictionary, so my spell checker thinks its mis-spelled 🤣)

@prologic@twtxt.net err yeah. feel real sorry for the guy. 🙄

I would hope yarn.social embodies these values.

In-reply-to » These cast-iron pots and fryers from Borough Furnace are a work of art. Media Pricier than any other I have seeing—and yet sold-out because of the small size of the business, and their high quality —they are hand crafted with care for a lifetime use. My mother used to cook exclusively on cast-iron pots and pans, so these items bring back really sweet childhood memories.

@david@netbros.com they look great! we’ve got a couple of cast iron pans that I use on occasion. I prefer the creuset range- because I am time poor and can throw them in the dishwasher!

no it’s for building
oh right- yep will make a good house
no it’s for building a garden bed

In-reply-to » @prologic this seems to be missing "like" functionality, which maybe you never intended to implement.

@kayos@twtxt.net hi! I’m the site admin.. meaning I’m the administrator.. meaning I make cups of coffee for the lead developer.
we have had this discussion many times on many long car rides 😬
I fully understand the need for the dopamine hit and without introducing ‘likes’ and such yarn.social as a brand will suffer. however, it’s not here to make money. it’s more like social media rehab. we can’t be different if we are the same. we can’t spread the message if the message is tainted.
I really hope you stick around 🧶
