In-reply-to » @prologic mastodon makes that configurable, which I think is a decent approach. I actually like to watch my follower count because it can be a good signal for weird stuff happening (especially if it goes up or down by more than it "should" in a short period of time). Saying "don't include this because people will chase the metric" is.....well.......not the most nuanced reason.

Not talking about getting rid of your Following list for yourself. Just the public Following count. It’s kind of useless.

In-reply-to » @prologic what’s next, get rid of CSS? 😂 Do you de-badge your cars (remove all lettering from them)? Though one might engage in monologues, sometimes it is worth to know one isn’t talking to the void.

I do actually. Nut honestly Yarn is better for me 😅 Have considers canceling my account and repurposing my prologic.blog domain 🤔

Hey Canva, you do not need to serve “Join Canva” invitation by serving them on your tracking domain track.canva.com 🤦‍♂️ Yet another example of a company hell bent on evading our privacy and collecting and tracking our every move on the internet 🤬 #Canva

@marado@twtxt.net Yeah I’m aware and so far this isn’t affecting anyone using Apple hardware (yet). I’ve filed complaints to Apple about their intention to start showing ads on the Lock Screen.

Let’s hope Apple listen to their customers, or I might be forced to do something drastic 😢

In-reply-to » Sidequestion: currently I am running a TiddlyWiki for myself with private and public tagged posts. The intention was, to make non-private tiddlers (posts) public at one point in the future. Now I have found https://github.com/usememos/memos whis looks really nice. If I find out how to skin it a bit to have wider text, I shortly thought about switching over. No InterWiki Links so, but that is doable by linking manually.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci A good friend and old colleague of mine (CTO) has this rule. He will not accept a call unless you’ve emailed him ahead of time or he already has you in his contacts. I was thinking about doing something similar to this myself one day, never accept a phone call unless a) I have you in my contacts or b) You’ve emailed me ahead of time. – Quite a clever strategy IMO 👌

In-reply-to » Back-Online - my provider decided to only hand out IPv6 addresses for a couple of hours. What a pain. Now, I do not have an IPv6 but my old IPv4 again. It is super strange these days. About 3–4 months ago, their mobile-part got hacked and data leaked. Maybe they are trying to fix stuff and closing down and fixing services. I don't know. All I can say, that download speed is fine, but ping is bad sometimes throughout the day. Media

@carsten@yarn.zn80.net it could be worse. You could live in a country where we still have copper and essentially DSL and get drop outs every single day sometimes multiple times a day. 🤣😆😅🤦‍♂️ #NBN

@marado@twtxt.net i’m actually very pissed off at Apple, about looking for new revenue sources by turning to the tater, but they happen to have on their users. I have historically trusted Apple, because it’s never been in the business of advertising. Apple already makes enough fucking money. 🤦‍♂️

In-reply-to » Could feeds.twtxt.net be setup to send Webmention to the original site when replying to a post?

@darch@neotxt.dk Hmmm I’m not sure it would really have that effect to be honest 🤔 – And by “indirection” I meant that, you would make a Twt replying to an automated feed (whose source is from somewhere else), a webmention would be sent to that feed service, the feed service would receive the webmention, figure out the source of the feed and forward the webmention to the original source.

Hmmm 🤔

In-reply-to » @abucci & @prologic: thank you for resolving the issue with refresh property!

For some context, I was trying to work out a way to calculate the moving average of a feed and how often it updates and converge on this. So feeds that update frequently are always fetched at the fetch interval configured by the pod operator (default 5m) and feeds that update slowly are fetched less frequently.

In-reply-to » Hope is a practice. It's not a feeling that comes to you randomly the way rain does, when events just happen to go well. Every day, you have to spend a little time thinking about what good you want to help bring into the world and if you have the time and energy do a little thing to make that good thought real. Like going to the gym, or studying a new language. You need to practice to make it real.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci “hope” is a powerful human emotion indeed (or so I believe) and I think it’s a great part of what makes us human 👌 We should never let go of hope, no matter what the powerful assholes at the top try to throw at us 😅

In-reply-to » Serious breaches at LastPass, Slack, and CircleCI really make you wonder why anyone uses or trusts cloud services.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci We’re pretty much the same too, besides Google Apps (grandfathered account) and a few media/delivery services, I can’t say we really rely on Cloud™ all that much (if at all) 👌
