@thecanine@twtxt.net You’re just highlighting a real problem in mdern-day society.

The few spoit it for the many.

And something to do with “being loud” and something a rather… (can’t find that one)

Sad, very sad and frustrating 🤦‍♂️

In-reply-to » We just had to cancel backup childcare because the person the service was going to send was refusing to take a COVID test and refusing to use the N95 masks we ask people to wear (we provide both the tests and the masks). Where I am located, COVID transmission is bad right now and there's no excuse for not being careful. Plus there's no way we're putting our baby and people we care about at risk of COVID just because someone has issues with masks and testing. I got some serious anti-vaxxer vibes from this person, so no way, cancelled.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci 😢

In-reply-to » @prologic Got a mention for the first time in recent memory, from @darch! Media Wondering whether the fully qualified nature of it -- or of how it displays, at least -- has anything to do with it showing up, but not this, from @bender. Media

Instructions:

Either using curl or bat:

export YARND_TOKEN="$(bat https://yarn.mills.io/api/v1/auth username=<usernaem> password=<password> | jq -r '.token')"
bat https://yarn.mills.io/api/v1/debug/db "Token:$YARND_TOKEN"

For example ☝️

@jlj@twt.nfld.uk Oh snap! 😅 It should have been:

$ bat https://twtxt.net/twt/hx7paga | jq -r '.text'
 @<jlj https://twt.nfld.uk/user/jlj/twtxt.txt> Looking.... 👀

The @-mention looks right, hmmm 🤔 – Do you mind dumping your database and sending it over to me? 🤔

In-reply-to » RFC: #1113 - RFC: non.URI Avatar (relative URI) - yarn - Mills

@bender@twtxt.net Good point, according to Metadata ext: #avatar:

avatar
This specifies the URL for the author’s or feed’s avatar, so it can be displayed along twts, e.g. next to the author. The avatar image is typically in JPEG, PNG or WebP format. Different clients prefer different ratios, so there is no strict rule to follow for feed authors. Often avatars are square.

Anyway, looks like at least a few in the community are in agreement that we should maybe amend the spec and any graphical clients like yarnd to support relative URI(s).

In-reply-to » Other see multiple posts from @kevin? I guess it might have something to do with the 3 different url = field in his twtxt file Media

@darch@neotxt.dk The only reason you would actually see duplicates at all from @kevin@twtxt.net is becuase even though his feeds are identical on 3 different domains/uris, there is at least one version of his feed that isn’t, that has slightly different metadata and a different set of url fields 😢 – I actually tried to sit down and write a bunch of fixes to cope with this (bad data), but gave up in the end I just tried to contact @kevin@twtxt.net

In-reply-to » @bender Mind to share a few vanilla apps you are using ?

I think development costs can be attributed to a number of things:

  • increase in inflation
  • and subsequently increase in wages
  • increase in complexity of software development
  • and subsequently stifling of innovation

In-reply-to » (#6qxkyda) @slashdot this whole stupid subscription model for products that already do the very thing the subscription is being sold for nightmare is not going to end is it?! 🤦‍♂️

@bender@twtxt.net Same 🤦‍♂️ Of I paid for something outright, I don’t expect to pay more for it on a continuous basis 🤬 A service (subscription) has to provide substantial value for money 🤦‍♂️

In-reply-to » After a few hours of usage, twtxt feels very in control, in the same way personnal websites do. I feel better writing for it than on other social medias, including Mastodon. The software isn't using me this time, I'm using it. It's everything I love about RSS, but as a small social network. No dependencies, accessible to everyone and powerful. Very cool!

@kdx@kdx.re We love it too 😍
